How it works
- Our highly-trained Review Moderation team evaluates all reviews before they're published to ensure they're written by people like you and not a member of a doctor's office.
- This multi-step process takes up to 24 hours from review submission to publication.
- Doctors can't pay to have reviews removed or hidden.
- Reviews are only removed at the reviewer's request or if they violate our Terms of Service.
If you have questions or believe we should re-evaluate a published review, let us know.

Review edit:
I forgot to mention I have severe lip incompetence because of this procedure now. My mouth does not close naturally. You can clearly see the chin is too big and the mentalis muscle/soft tissue cannot adapt to the large movement.
Honest Augmentation Sliding Genioplasty Review, 2 Years Post Op
I underwent a sliding genioplasty with bone graft hoping for a subtle and balanced enhancement to my lower face. What I received instead was a chin that is now excessively large and disproportionate, completely out of harmony with the rest of my facial features.Apart from that, a very large part of my hipbone is missing and it is very pointy, and has left a long scar.
During the consultation, the surgeon used Microsoft Paint (not medical imaging software) to “more or less” illustrate how the chin would look after surgery. This was presented as a projection tool, which is inadequate for a procedure that permanently alters your facial skeleton. By the time this became obvious, I had already prepaid in full, leaving me financially committed despite growing discomfort.
Post-surgery, the result was not what I was promised. The chin protrudes unnaturally and throws off the balance of my face. A respected maxillofacial surgeon I later consulted was appalled by the technique, pointing out the aggressive projection, low screw placement, and odd rotational approach, as well as the large step-off gaps.
When I raised these concerns with the Dr Nogueira, I was met with stalling, excessive paperwork requests, and no meaningful accountability. A refund was impossible, especially from another country. I was offered a second consultation — travels and accommodation at my own cost — which felt dismissive and pointless given the extent of the damage.
This experience has been both emotionally distressing and financially draining. I now face undergoing revision surgery with a competent specialist just to undo what should never have happened in the first place.
If you’re considering this procedure, I strongly advise:
• Do not rely on clinics that can’t provide proper digital simulations or medical imaging (!!)
• Don’t let prepayment trap you — it limits your ability to walk away.
• Get multiple opinions from actual maxillofacial surgeons, not just cosmetic doctors.
I’m sharing this to help others avoid the physical and emotional impact of poor surgical planning and outcome.
