I have not seen anyone mention this result yet, so I would like everyone thinking of miconeedling to be aware of what happened to my skin! I put 'not sure whether it was worth it' because I have hope that I can fix the new texture. If you want to skip to a description of the weird texture, scroll down to the all-caps below.
Also be aware that I am an older lady who mis-spent teen years baking in the sun and burning myself under a home sunlamp. Stupid!!! So my skin naturally has a few battle scars. I also smoked for a long time and always used straws, so had very noticeable upper lip wrinkles - and this is what prompted me to buy a roller in the first place.
On Nov 8, 2017 I conservatively rolled my face for the first time with a .5mm roller, taking every precaution to disinfect roller before/after, as well as my skin beforehand. I used hyaluronic serum afterward and applied nothing else to my skin except water for 24 hours and stayed indoors. No blood and very little pain. My skin looked pretty good for a week (presumably swelling). I began moisturizing with hosehip oil morning and night thereafter.
On Nov 20 - less than 2 weeks later- (a little soon I think, but I was so light in touch the first time and completely healed after a week, based on appearance)- I rolled again, this time with a .75mm. What really hurt the first time was around the lip area, and, besides smoker lines, I have some noticable acne scarring below my lips on either side of my chin. Because of this, I used a numbing cream. This may be important: First I washed my face with antibacterial soap. Then I swabbed well with alcohol. Then I applied numbing cream, then wiped the numbed area down again very well. Then I rolled.
The .75 mm roller didn't hurt much more than the .50. However, my lip area was extremely numb! I must have used too much numbing agent, because there was not only almost no pain when I rolled in this very sensitive area, I wasn't sure whether I was applying too much pressure. I wanted to be conservative, and there was no bleeding, though maybe very slight pinpricks. I didn't notice any visible 'holes' or gashes, but these 2 treatments or one of them is what caused the texture change.
(I am sorry that I cannot include a photo, but it is not possible to capture the texture with my equipment- but in person it is very noticeable.) First I will describe what the area from lip to nose looked like before rolling. I had 3 obvious smokers lines on each side, the left side (drivers side) being a bit worse. On both sides, the three lines extended nearly to the level of the bottom of my nose. Each was a singular line with no branches.
NOW, HERE IS WHAT I NOTICED AS CHANGED SKIN ON Dec 6: The 3 lines on the left side were much shorter, only extending about half way to the nose. One of the lines developed an arrow point (branching out at the end), and another has a point like an upside down peace sign (opposite direction branch). But the skin above that (from the end of the wrinkles to the nose) is really weird and ugly where it was normal before! I would almost describe it as my new cell turnover went crazy and built an ELEVATED layer of skin under the nose, with an appearance of how a group of cells would look under a microscope-- - mostly circular-ish shaped elevations with a dot (tiny hole) in the center. This has also occurred on the right side, but only about a third of the way down, instead of half. If I pull that skin a little, it resembles a bit several small (new) scars. ?? UNDER my lip, just in the center, is not pretty, a small patch there right at the lip looking like really big pores/holes.
I have to say I rolled again on seeing this, though with less numbing and a .5 roller. I have no plans to roll again for several months to see how things develop. This last roll I didn't use anything afterward, except water. I checked the ingredients of my serum and decided against using it because there were other ingredients in it that I don't think were natural to skin.
Hope this helps someone. If anyone has an interest, I will update as time passes. Here's hoping we all find positive results!

Without seeing your picture, I feel like the numbing cream possibly could have gotten in the puncture areas and caused an adverse reaction or maybe because you were so numb, you rolled to hard or too much in that area. It’s hard to say.
Honestly, I have not heard of cell regeneration to the extent you are describing. I understand it’s hard to capture the texture of one’s skin with a phone sometimes, but a picture would really help. I think if you took one in the light (natural light coming through a window, for example), we would be able to see more about the issue you are having. Plus, you could show your picture and ask a question to the doctors on RealSelf and get a professional opinion. Good luck to you. :-)
