I have had peels before and after cost and time 4 months pass and a 1000 to get tto the 30% level and results. I have never had any discomfort and had them all done at the spa. This year I decided after reading several online blogs and watching youtube videos well I felt " I can do this" ;) ! Today I applied the tca 30% peel I planned on keeping it on 5 minutes. I tell you the burning was intense and trust me I'm a tuff cookie (carry a gun and gave birth 4 times) but the burning was unbearable! I took it off in less then a minute, I was freaking out my face turned red and felt very HOT! Thank god I had a box of baking soda ready, I used the entire box over and over fast making a face mask and applying, then splashing cold water on alternating the two for at least an hour. I could not believe the burning I felt I began to get very afraid and almost went to the ER. Thank god it finally stopped. I'm red now like I sat in the sun and I feel tingling but it's bearable. I didn't understand why getting it at the spa was a piece of cake but doing it at home was a terrible experience. Now I'm glad it's over and waiting to see my results. Anyone chime in on what I should buy over the counter? I bought some moisturizer with sun screen. I also for the life of me can't figure out why it was so painful and I only left it on for less then a minute. I bought it off Ebay and I also decided I won't be doing any peels on myself any more. You ladies are tuff. ;) here a before treatment and day off, more photos to fallow

How are you feeling now?

When doing TCA peels at home you should never start at 30%. Try 15% them move up... it can always be diluted in to parts. TCA peels are not like the other peels that just tingle and burn for a little, TCA penetrates deeper than most peels. 5min is way to long for to keep TCA on you're face at home for the first time. I do TCA on myself and I never keep it on for more than 1 min.

tough cookie or not, you're nuts for trying that at home! Moisturiser with sunscreen is definitely not enough. You need some heavy duty mineral sunscreen like Obagi (or similarly specialist brand) or you'll damage the new skin. Hope it heals OK.. keep us posted!

When using TCA for the first time you def. want to start with the lowest concentration and work your way up. I have been TCA peeling for years, started 8% and now up to 25%, My rule of thumb is move up every year. First year, 8 or 10%, the following year, 12-15%, etc.... I burned like hell with the 25% and frosted like a snowman, but, well worth it. Best wishes.

The spa was ripping you off!! A TCA peel at 15% burns like hell and your skin frosts in under a minute. I will never go to a spa or a Doctor to get my TCA peel! You can do it yourself but no more than 18%

Ohhhhh heal well! That's what scares me. I want to do it for skin firming purposes and leaning to having my dr do it. I've done 12% at home several times and left it on for five minutes = TWICE for a second layer - though it burned...I could take it. I did the baking soda paste to halt it. But that was bearable. I can't imagine the pain you were in for only a minute! But I'm still leaning to do the 30 with my dr. though I hate paying the high cost.

I work at a spa and the tca they used on you was probably watered down. I do tca 30 % at home myself and it does hurt like hell. you might try using a fan brush to apply it faster. I immediately take it off with cold water as it hurts too much to leave it on. As soon as water hits your face it will neutralize the peel. You can also weaken your bottle of tca by adding water to it. Aquafor is good to use after a peel and sunscreen is a must for the rest of your life. 30% or more. Hyualoronic acid serum is also a must for post peel before your moisturizer. DO NOT PICK !!! Can cause scarring. I get my hyuloronic acid on ebay. I also always have a fan blowing on my face as im applying the peel. Hope this helps some :)

I would really not advise going above 15% in strength for home use TCA Peels! You don't need a high percentage in TCA- like other acids (such as Lactic, Glycolic etc) You have been scared off now, but you should let your skin calm and then maybe when you are ready try a good brand home kit- such as an Australian brand Cosmetic Company (Skin Define Gel Peel Range) Apparently they are loaded with antioxidants which help calm the skin at the same time. Loads of moisturiser and SPF, drink heaps of water and stay clear of exfoliating products, scrubs and active ingredients in products (such as Retin A, Vitamin C) until your skin is back to normal. Keep us posted!

Oh dear God! You bought it from e-Bay? Never trust concentrations. I am a professional and I do 30% on leg sunspots. You need repair peptide.

In this photo I don't have anything on my face just eye makeup these peels take the fine lines and freckles totally worth doing them at home I saved tons it was around $30 but if you get anxiety dnt do it the minute it starts burning you will panic but if your a tuff women you can save allot of money when you have it done professionally they do it in steps after 6 weeks of treatments it cost around 1000 for fear of being sued they start you out at a lower dose. At home you. Can start in steps . I did the 30% because I have had it proffesuonaly done and knew m skin could handle it . But if your new to this start out at 15% then every 2 weeks go up to a stronger dose until you hit the 30% . Thus procedure is amazing for your skin if you have acne or discoloration your going to love your face
