I've been a patient of Dr. D.'s for about 6 years. I've gotten botox, xeomin, juvederm, radiesse, many chemical peels & skincare products over the years. When I was looking for a more permanent solution to my "11" situation, of course, I went to him.
After a consultation we discussed what would be best for me & it was decided that a brow lift along with exising the corrugator muscles would give me what I desired.
During my pre-op visit it was recommended that I get a botox treatment to soften the muscles, making it easier for surgery/atrophy during healing. I paid the money & got the botox as recommended. I wanted everything to go perfect as possible.
Surgery came & went.
Directly after; once the majority of the swelling went away I looked great. Until the botox wore off. Then I was right back to exactly where I was before only this time more than $4,000 poorer.
When I went in for my next follow-up appointment I brought up my concerns to Dr. D. & he assured me that he would make it right. I just need to wait until my next follow-up (in Dec). He then gave me a shot of botox on the house so I wouldn't look terrible. (I was having pictures done for a family event the following week).
I can't say enough good things about Dr Dickerson & his staff as far as the procedure; I am hopeful that we'll have everything sorted out in December. I will definitely post pictures when I finally get the results we were both looking for.

What kind of brow lift did you get? Your post op pic looks really good! What would cause the brow lift to go back to the original position? Please keep us updated - I am interested in having a brow lift and have learned so much on this site. Thank you for sharing.

Endoscopic. My incisions were in the "widow's peak" area of my hairline (about 3cm into it). He also excised the corrugator muscles inbetween my eyebrows. Not quite sure what happened. I know he's an awesome doctor and I followed every thing required/requested both pre-op & post-op (including an additional procedure-botox). Unfortunately, there's nothing that can be done until my next appointment. I need to be fully healed and by then there will be no question as to what the final result of the original surgery is so we can see where to go from there.

Thank you for the quick reply. I'm sure he will take care of you and correct anything that needs corrected. Did you have the endotines? I've heard from people on this site that sometimes they can drop after a little while which lowers the brow. Was your recovery difficult?

No, sutures. Swelling, of course, and I'm a wuss so pain but nothing that wasn't easily managed. I did look like a losing boxer for a week though so if you do plan on getting the surgery plan any subsequent events accordingly. :)

I consulted with a facial plastic surgeon in NYC and he told me that some people continue to need Botox after a brow lift. I think he said it had something to do with the surgeon not wanting to completely destroy the brow muscle b/c they want to avoid an un-natural result. I was so disappointed to hear this! I want/need a brow lift, but need to think about this.

I was also told some movement could return. The complete drop and return of all was definitely a disappointment & is why things are going to be looked at again. I'm very confident in my doctor and he & I discussed before my surgery that natural wasn't really a big concern for me. I know that, had things gone as they should, what looked a bit unnatural or "done" initially would soften/drop with time into exactly what I wanted. I'm not quite sure what the issue was with my initial surgery. :(

2nd Surgery scheduled

Yesterday was my appointment for my second post-op and upon seeing the not so great results of my 1st surgery Dr D & I discussed what options were. I could either go in for a second surgery (through the same incisions, maybe one more) or go for ThermiRase. The surgery seems like the way to go seeing as I already know what to expect pain/healing-wise, it's a more permanent solution (the other lasts only about 2 years) & scarring isn't going to be an issue at all because he's going to be going through the same areas/general area & I heal well. My new surgery is scheduled for December 30th, so Merry (late) Christmas to me. :)

I will. I'll be posting pictures and all as soon as I have the surgery. I'm so excited. This time I'm not nervous which is wonderful. I was thinking about what the pain was going to be like last time so I was so anxious about going in. Now I know what to expect which is a big weight off my shoulders.

I hope everything goes well and you get lasting results.

2nd Surgery

Yesterday was my revision surgery for the corrugator muscle part of the brow lift I had gotten back in July. This one was done @ the "in house" operating room which was super convenient and added a bit of comfort for a long time patient like me to be in familiar surroundings with familiar staff.
I was all numbed up & given a decent amount of pain meds so the actual procedure was pretty painless, just pressure. Now that it's day 2 I'm getting some of the oh so lovely swelling but other than that no issues. This go around Dr. Dickerson was more aggressive with the muscle removal so he gave me a prescription for a steriod to help with the swelling. Below are some pictures of before, directly after & this morning. As you can see the incisions were changed to the corners of the eyebrows rather than going through the same incisions as before. We talked about it and since I already have very light eyebrows that I get tattooed it would be best to go through that area. Any minimal scaring can be covered by my new eyebrow tattoos & it would be easier for him to give me the results I wanted going through those incisions.

So was this a direct brow lift then? Not like the previous endoscopic one? I can't really see the incisions on your brow if they were in your eyebrow. Hope you are feeling better.

The other was an endoscopic brow lift with the corrugator muscles to be cut during it. This time was to correct the corrugator muscle part. But yes he went in through the same incision area as a direct brow lift.

Oic. So where the bandages are then that's where the incision was made? Will it leave a scar?- or will the tattoo cover it? You'll have to let me know what surgery (endoscopic or direct eyebrow) you think was the best way to go. Thanks for your help! I hope you can recover soon! I'm anxious to see your results.

I am too! :) Yes, that's where they are. If my eyebrows weren't so sparce I wouldn't even have to have them covered by the tattoo but I've got very thin blonde ones so I am kind of at a disadvantage when it comes to hiding any scar despite it's size under my brows.

I gad my eye lids done with doctor Dickerson 10 years ago . The job was redone 2 times and he was going to fix them on the house for the third time . I got scare and went someplace where advise me to allow time for more saggy skin. Doctor Dickerson is a very nice person , but I don't consider him a great plastic surgeon . That's my opinion
