I'm having my mommy makeover - tummy tuck and MR, breast lift and minor aug - in about a month. I was sad to see that the forum (which I could never find on my phone anyway!) seems to be winding down, no "November, 2017 Mommy Makeover" thread. If I'm mistaken, would love to be directed to the right place. I'm 40, 5'8" and 149 lb.. I hope to be 142 at surgery.
I had always planned to have my breasts touched up after I was done having kids because I BFed for a couple years with both boys. It was through that process that I came here and started learning a bit more about what's out there, and about diastasis recti. Well that explained a lot! Like why I would leave a barre or pilates class I attend five days a week and feel nothing but empty in my actual core and pain in my back. I've kept up the barre but modify and am now amazed at this empty jello feeling exactly where I should be working in class!
I went to a department store last spring after three months of barre five days a week. I was so toned and strong and excited to try on a bikini. Wow. I looked like I'd been sitting on the couch eating donuts. I researched cool sculpting, vela sculpting, but then figured out my muscles are just separated. Full disclosure, I have carried weight in my belly my whole life. Even as a size 4 at my wedding I had a pouche and wore spanks. So I will not be saying no to the lipo!
Now that I know it's just impossible not to get this procedure done. I'm actually on the fence about my breasts but feel like since I"m in there I should get them done. I have almost a cup size difference and miss the fullness in the upper pole. I'm going to do a really small implant over the muscle, per my dr.'s rec, because I have a lot of breast tissue, and a lift. Just to get a natural, perky fullness. I've always been a 34C and with my tall frame it looks perfect. I really don't want to go bigger, but I think I could do a D on my frame if needs be.
I chose my dr. because, believe it or not, he did my BF's breasts 20 years ago and, her words, "they've worked out really great, no complaints from anyone" ;). Dr. Epstein does great breasts and is a perfectionist and I interviewed four other doctors but just loved his bedside manner. I also love that his practice has its own on site surgery and recovery. Can't wait to get this done! A little worried about the down-time but happy otherwise.

Hi! When do you have your procedure? I am also scheduled for an Abdominoplasty with Dr. Epstein after Christmas. I'm extremely nervous, but after having 4 kids (2 c-sections), I really want to have my stomach back! I just thought I'd touch base, would love to know how your nerves are prior to procedure, and would also love to hear how the procedure actually goes for you.

I have mine the week after Thanksgiving, so I'll definitely post. For what it's worth, my BFF had her breasts done by Dr. Epstein almost 20 years ago and they look great. And Erin, his nurse, was telling me that he's a real perfectionist and went after every bit of lipo when he did a little work on her. I'm nervous too but I feel like every day I feel my stomach falling looser. I really can't wait to have my back and core tightly supported.

I hear you there! I have read that the tummy tuck can really help with lower back problems, which I have now. And it's been so frustrating to try and get back into shape and do so much ab work, but still feel like my stomach sticks out even more. Please do let me know how it goes for you (once you feel up for posting). I'm also nervous about the recovery. It is good to know your friend had great results from Dr. Epstein! Best wishes for a wonderful procedure and recovery!

It sounds like we’re dealing with similar issues :(. Did you do our pre-op yet? Dr. Epstein is really strict about staying prone, according to Erin. So for two weeks you’re only supposed to sit when using the bathroom, otherwise lay down or stand. Even if off narcotics, he doesn’t want you driving because you have to sit. But he usually doesn’t do drains so I’m prepared to deal with it. Can’t believe it’s only four days!

Feeling great about my weight and fitness, just want that tummy repaired and the skin tightened so I can be toned all over. I know back pain is not a primary reason for this procedure but I am really in tune with my body and feel how my back takes over when my core fails. I know having a core will be an improvement and hope it will help with pain and bad alignment.

Getting the house ready!

I’m so excited about my surgery Tues.. can’t WAIT to see my new silhouette in just 3 days! One thing I’m doing to prep is to make some vegetable soup and some smoothie packs. One with carrot, lemon and pineapple, which I can just mix with ice. Another with berries, banana, flax seed and protein powder which I can add almon milk to for a meal replacement in case my appetite is low. Also decorating for Christmas because I’ll spend my days next to my tree in my zero gravity chair :).
