WORTH IT
I first had implants 20 years ago. I wanted saline as I was worried about silicon as it was banned in the USA. The doctor talked me in to having silicon as he said it looked and felt better and was 'totally safe'. He said he put it in his own wife. Ten years later I had them removed and replaced as I knew that was the recommened lifespan. Three years later I found I had the PIP ones. I was terrified. My surgeon agreed to replace them for the hospital fee only as I also had capsular contraction. I had a scan to see if they had leaked. They hadn't but silicon had been 'bleeding' as I had it in my lympth nodes under both arms. After a further 6 years I read about the dangers they are now finding about all implants including saline. A 21 per cent higher risk of lung and brain cancer. And niw the new ALCL cancer. Having 3 children under 6 I did not want to have something which could potentially kill me early. I went to my doctor as the clinicI had the 3 ops with had gone out of business due to the PIP scare. He sent me to the hospital for a scan as I said my lympth nodes under my arms often ache badly and even the one on my right side of my neck. The scan showed my implants intact. There was silicon in my lympth nodes under my arms I aready knew about but it had travelled to my neck too. Goodness knows where else it has gone. None of my implants have leaked. This us all from particals of silicon which flakes off. I aldo had mild capsular contraction again. He very kindly told me I could have them out on the NHS. So yesterday they were taken out! I had 390cc which weighed 2 pounds. I have lost 3 inches from my chest!! It feels great to grt those toxic bolders out of me and not have to worry about them polluting my body and worse still killing me.

Your very welcome... I also had my implants removed on 16th August through our amazing NHS after a rupture, my implants which were silicone PIP (which I only found out they were PIP 2 weeks ago as Transform previously told me they were not - I went back to see my original Doctor but he was only interested in replacing them). I'm a mum of 2 myself, from Cheshire UK, my youngest is 23 months so trying not to pick her up is quite difficult whilst I'm recovering. This website really helped me as I would have gone down the replacement route, but felt very inspired to go natural after all these years! I wish you well and you look brilliant x I hope you don't mind my asking, but what after care were you told about? I had no drains, no binding either, I bought surgical bras and plan to were them day and night for 2 weeks, they told me my stitches will dissolve and no follow up required and to remove the butterfly plasters 5 days after op. Other ladies seem to be wearing binding. Can I ask what you have been advised? x

I wasn't advised of anything. After research on here it seems a sports bra day and night for at least a few weeks is best to stop the build up of fluid and seroma forming. They told me the same thing as you regarding the stitches and surgical plasters. Did you have the capsules removed too? X

I didn't see my consultant after surgery he left notes advising implants removed no mention of the capsules, so I guess they are still with me. I was on a ward with cancer patients having mastectomies so I felt guilty asking questions about it. Transform doctor advised he rarely removes capsules though. What about you? x

They said they would only remove them if they were calcified. After the op the surgeon told me they were really thin so he left them and my body will reabsorb them x

It is advised by Dr Kolb and Dr Feng to remove the capsules. Some women experience issues if the capsule are not removed. They do not break down in the body and will cause interference when getting an MRI. (ultrasounds are not good) Not trying to cause alarm just be sure to check this out if you do not get well or continue to have health trouble of any sort. They can calcify and harbor bacteria, the majority of plastic surgeons will not tell you this. Health and healing wishes to you.

Hi Mrs q how are you doing? I'm a week and 1 day after explant now and doing ok (previous name amandahill2). Its great to sleeping on my sides for a bit without to much pain, to be honest I can't wait to lay on my front again after 18 years of implants! I hope your doing well, for me, I'm happy but a bit worried about the previous note about capsules x

I am doing great thanks!! Have you taken hour surgical tape off? Don't worry about the capsules.. If you look on here it seems there is a lot of different opinions from surgeons on this. I'm going to trust what mine said. Just because one person was told something different from their surgeon doesn't make it right. It was wrong of them to try and worry us they are not a doctor!! Look on here and you will seelits of surgeons who say that if they are thin they leave them alone. My surgeon said it would do more harm than good if they are okay. Xx

Thanks for your advice as I am worried about whats left behind! I woke up on Sunday at 4am (day 5 for me) with extreme itching, got in the bath whilst my children were sleeping and soaked them off, my breast felt sooo heavy. My husband looked at scares later in the day and i had left some strips on so he removed them for me. My boobs feel really heavy when I take my bra off so I can't wait to put it back on again, but its great to know they are mine and no toxic bags in my body. Best Wishes xx

Mine are still on and itching but I can't get them off. I think I will see the nurse tomorrow at the doctors and see if she can get them off. Xx
