This is what my makeup looks like... you can see the cobblestone like skin everywhere. My skin underneath my makeup looks thin and burnt and discolored. I believe I have thermal damage from the laser. I now get eye bags really bad in the morning g since having this done. Still have broken caps everywhere, texture issues, discoloration, thin skin, veins etc just terrible. What I'm using is aczone, elta md barrier, ciclafate, and biafine cream.

I'm trying to hang in there, my scars are bad. I've tried everything i can think of. The worst is when the light hits me on the sides of the face on my upper cheek, right were you want it too look good, can't hide it with hair. I'm devastated I put make up on then take it off then on then off, so many primers that haven't helped. Anyone know of a good primer or filler to help, I'm a hermit with no sleep. And this is after 10 yrs. I shake from the stress, i know they say to forget about it and move on but when i try & see myself in the daylight & even nite it makes me sick. I wish you the best and if you find anything for scars please share. First it was the erbium laser that did damage & after getting fat the woman there hit me up with ipl without me knowing and made deep triangle scars. When i freaked out and said you can get scars from it she says, yes you can if someone doesn't know how to use it right. I guess she didn't know how. Whats worse is when they say they don't see it & send you on your way. Waiting to hear if Recosma comes to the US. I hear you can get good results from it.

Did u do the non-ablative fractional? Or the CO2 ablative one?
July 25, 2017
I had the non ablative fraxel restore on the highest setting ... if your thinking about doing it don't do it!

I wonder how the Fraxel was administered in your case? Does the tip touch your skin and dragged in linear form?

Orange peel is slightly better but broken caps are crazy!

lady45788
I went to a dermatologist and he said my skin is still inflamed he put me on solodyn (minocycline ) and aczone. I think it has helped with the orange peel texture of my skin so far. Since it has brought some of the inflammation down I can really see all the broken cappilaries this laser has left me! I only had broken caps around my nose before no where on my cheeks. My skin looks so old. Do not don't fraxel even if it preformed by a good doctor! They will just leave you in the dark.

I'm in same position the aftermath is just mentally torturing. How did you bring the inflammation down - anything you are currently using thats helping?
June 14, 2017
I'm on minocycline which is like doxycycline and I think that is helping with inflammation

I’m having the same problem with my skin. It’s orange peeled with old acne scars. It burnt and very red and dry. What do I do. I can’t get any moisture into the skin.

I’m ha omg the same problem. Have you had any luck with your skin. I had fraxel restore on November 21 so 3 months ago. It brought out old acne scars that weren’t there. My face is so red burnt and I can’t get any moisture to soak in. This is so crazy.

Hello Itty bitty, (this must be the cutest name on here)
So sorry you have become another victim to join this unfortunate group. I (we all) understand how devastating it is. Please try to find adequate help to support you with your skin, the sooner the better. According to doctors and research your skin is inflamed now and it is key you be very gentle and use products that will help repair your skin barrier, it is severely compromised that is why it cannot hold moisture. I can only speak for myself but also based on what I have read and learnt this will not get better on its own. Your skin needs help (the right kind). Inflammation on the one hand means your immune system kicks in to help repair damage but t if it lasts to long it will do more damage resulting in damaged older looking skin.
Ingredients known to help skin barrier repair are niacinamide (vit B3), ceramides, lipid replacements,...If your skin stings it probably means it's not ready for it and will irritate it even more this has to be avoided. Find yourself a good dermatologist who will listen and help you. Sending you healing vibes.

Thank you for responding back to my message. I had the fraxel restore performed by a dermatologist’s office. I went and saw her last Saturday she claims that products did this to my face and not the fraxel. They also continued to claim my skin looks great. I’m shocked that they even said that out of there mouth.
Non the less she’s not taking any responsibility for this. Have you tried the skin seutical products? Which ones have worked best for you? I’m so depressed I can barley get out of bed. I can’t believe I paid for this to happen to me. I keep blaming myself for that day I went in for a simple fraxel procedure that will now be ever lasting in my life.
February 14, 2019
Hey sweetie, I know it is just devastating and them not taking responsibility is typical. It is not your fault ! Please do not blame yourself. You trusted them, like we all did, THEY damaged YOU and now hang you out to dry when you came looking for help. It is absolutely reprehensible, they swore an oath to first to no harm then they do and subsequently offer no help. There are so many of us damaged by these machines and most of us are confronted with utter lies and denial. You could start a log and document everything and gather evidence( photographic, appointments with other doctors ...) There is a possibility for product allergy after procedure but unfortunately most of us on here have thermal injury due to too aggressive treatment and incompetence or bad patient selection. These machines (ALL of them )can cause severe harm. Especially lasers class IV (very high risk for skin and eye damage) and ( IPL is also very iffy.) They are so called high energy devices and energy translates into heat, extreme heat. The line between too little and too much is very thin. Manufacturers bare great responsibility too, they all act like it is nothing more than operating a photocamera but they are selling a hacksaw to anyone who is willing to pay. Proper training and information are inadequate. Furthermore there are NO clinical trials. If a device has been marketed before for a certain type of usage,(skin problem) they just get approval. I have investigated this extensively and people are knowingly being put at risk due of a completely failing system. Anyway I digress sorry. I have not tried Skinceuticals so cannot comment on that I just know they are very expensive.
Products I have been using are Avene hydrabalance wash, Avene post acte, this has some copper peptides in it (for post procedure skin like laser)and cicalfate (with zinc which is antibacterial ). Also Alhydran (also used for burns) Later I reintroduced my other skin products by Paula Begoun, mainly the resist line products.(omega + complex and anti oxidant serum with vit C) Also the oil booster and niacinamide booster which I mix.By the way I am in Europe so not all products may be available to me or you but I think nearly all I mentioned are available. Also red light therapy has helped some on here too. I have also just ordered a LED mask recommended by a renowned doctor, a pioneer concerning lasers. I have confirmed damage to the cutis and subcutis (so yes these machines can absolutely cause damage in the deeper skin layers due to apoptosis) I was damaged by the Lumenis ResurfX m22 which is a fractionated erbium Yag laser with IPL. I had one session! I am one year post and the damage on my face went gradually until one day I saw the dreaded orange peel all over and then it went spiralling down very quickly with slack skin,(collagen and elastine fibrosis) stretched pores, dents and now fine lines everywhere. I was not able to stop it. Like all of us we were lulled into a false sense of security. I had no idea these machines could do this. I do not want to scare you but please go see a good dermatologist if you can find one in your neighbourhood. Let them asses your skin as we are all behind our computer and can exchange experiences and knowledge but we cannot be sure as to what is going on with your skin of course. Remember ; it is not your fault! Eve x

I appreciate all your comments, facts and encouragement. I am just devastated as to what happened. I will try to find a good dermatologist in my area. I’m just having a really hard time grasping what happened I’m just 3 months and am more worried what is going to happen to my skin down the road.
Much love ❤️

I have the same issues. Its just crazy how we all have the exact same kind of damage from fraxel and the doctors deny that fraxel caused this. I have a new definition of fraxel - "Device to mutate human face into pins/holes surface"
June 8, 2017
Exactly. The same with my skin as well
June 27, 2017
Yep mine is like that to
