I had a revision rhinoplasty in 2012 by Mr Matti. He added ear grafts
onto the tip of my nose, the grafts show through my skin. It is turned
too high up and the columella is hanging down, he overfilled the sides
of my nose (where I used to have a natural supratip break), made it
bulky and uneven. The tip of my nose is sharper than my original nose,
even though I repeated on my occasions to keep the natural roundness of my nose as it was.
I feel my life is messed up. I will write my story in more detail soon. I would not recommend him to anyone.

Hi There! I am so sorry you feel this way!
Do you have a picture of your old nose? Just from looking at it without seeing your old nose and not knowing what you looked like before, your nose looks completely fine to me! Nothing bad stands out! I am wondering if maybe you were just expecting something very different??? But I think you actually have a nice nose!

Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry to see this. You had a perfectly normal nose. Why would Dr Matti think this is acceptable? It looks unnatural and points upwards. Your before pictures are much better. I think you should get a refund or take him to court.

I'm so sorry this happened to you. Your original nose was 100% perfect and it was wrong if him to take advantage of your emotional state to convince you otherwise and get money out of you. As I also have visible ear cartilage grafts I know the intense depression comes with something like this. I have not yet reached the point where I can get mine fixed (do they get shaved down, do they remove them completely?) but I hope there is some solution and I hope that he helps you with he financial burden of doing so (which i doubt he will cuz he sounds like a greedy [RS bleep]) *hugs*

Matti Case: Said I have a pigs nose - neglected ongoing swelling and operated on my nose anyway
softnoseJune 8, 2016
In 2009, I had a septo-rhinoplasty abroad and was very pleased with the outcome.
In 2011, I had a surgery on my philtrum that caused my nose and face to swell up. Crucially, my nostrils appeared larger, even though I originally and always had small nostrils.
Only 6 weeks after the philtrum procedure, I came to see Mr Matti in distress. I was depressed that my nose was swollen and with excess nostril show. I even showed him a photo of how my nose looked before this recent procedure, he agreed my nose looked absolutely fine. I told him I was depressed, I wanted my nostrils to appear smaller like how they were before.
However, to address my nostril concerns, instead of telling me to wait for the swelling to subside, he said I had an upturned pigs nose. He repeated this on every single consultation and made me believe it. He was very keen to operate on me and wanted to book the operation in just a few weeks time.
In fact, he 'diagnosed' my nose with many faults that didn’t bother me or weren’t present. In the state that I was, I trusted him and believed he would deliver an amazing outcome. I thought he had a good plan. He was so confident and passively bulling about his plan to correct my nose. He made me believe the swelling effects on my nose were permanent.
I went ahead with surgery, 9 months after my philtrum procedure, where the swelling had not subsided. He said I needed ear cartilage graft to be able to hide my nostril show. I asked if the ear cartilage grafts that he was planning on adding onto my tip would show through the skin, he reassured me on many occasions saying ‘no’. But it clearly does. The grafts are very visible, especially in person. My nostril show is worse than before. Additionally, the columella is hanging down, which he never demonstrated he intended to do. This adds to my nostril show, and exaggerates the tip of my nose pointing up. I would have never agreed to this revision.
It is very clear now that I had lots of swelling at that time and there was nothing to correct. In fact, I saw other doctors the following year and they confirmed it was such a bad job and it was the wrong decision for Mr Matti to diagnose and operate with the swelling they saw. They said I should have waited at least 2 years for the swelling to settle before assessing my appearance. Mr Matti completely neglected the existence of swelling, even though I pointed this out to him.
He took advantage of my state and rushed me into this unnecessary revision surgery. I stupidly trusted him when I was at my most vulnerable state. I put all my trust in him thinking he knows what’s best for me. He obviously doesn’t listen to what you want, he doesn’t care how you feel, he just wants to operate on noses to suit his taste.

I Just read your story, yeah I think what he did was terrible. You asked for smaller nostrils and he made them bigger! Thats crazy. Maybe you were a blank canvas for him.

Its been a month, he hasn't said anything yet. How can I trust him to do any more work on me? That's all he's offered me so far. After going through so much anxiety caused by him, how can I go under his knife again?

I had a botched nose job in 2002, Ived lived with low self esteem since. In 2007 I looked at getting revision surgery and Basim Matti was the 'God' of revision rhinoplasty at the time. I ended up paying out for three consultations (BMs was very expensive). I booked in my surgery with Hugh Henderson, but a day before surgery his secretary called to say he was ill and unable to operate. I'm not superstitious, but took this as an omen not to go ahead. I have a consultation with Lucion Ion in November.

Hi i have checked out all your photos. I would honestly say Basim Matti did not do a good job.. your before picture is much better than one after.. can i ask what you wanted to change ? :)

I must agree that after seeing these pictures I would have to agree with Nosereconstruction. You should ask for a refund

omg i have the same graft problem in my nose tip. It looks like its about to poke thru the end of my nose and doesnt look natural at all. I regret having rhino so much. I miss my old nose and how normal it felt, i took it for granted. Do you have any weird tension/tightness feeling in your nose when you yawn/smile?
June 23, 2016
I still have tightness in my nose when I smile or yawn. It feels and looks so unnatural even after 3 years. I regret it more than anything in my life :(
June 23, 2016
I have this problem too. No one ever tells you this stuff before you have surgery.
I wish I could have my old nose and my old life back.
Do you feel your life is ruined ? I really do.

I feel so depressed, but we have to try and stay positive. This is really hard on us but we have to sort it out one day so we can get passed all this

I'm 3 years post op in August and still have this issue too. Was really hoping it was only going to be temporary but as the years pass I don't have any hope. Thank u so much for confirming u r having the same issue. When I told my surgeon and another surgeon about it they made me feel like I was crazy. I feel like the strut graft might be too long and placed incorrectly. If u ever get a chance to find out what's happening in ur nose tip I would be curious to know. Surgeons in Australia have no idea what they are doing so I'll get no answers here

I saw him a couple of years ago for a consultation for possible complex revision surgery and thank god I didn't go ahead. He wasn't very confident in what he could do and the consult felt hurried.
Will you be look of to have further revision or leave it as it is?
