Day 12 Post Op Pictures didn't upload earlier so here they are

here are 12 days post Op photos

12 Days Post op

Well it has been just short of two weeks post op and I am questioning the money spent on this surgery. I have to constantly search through pictures on this site (realself.com) and try to find pictures of people that provided constant updates on their Smart Lipo.

I still see little to no improvement on my abdominal area and flanks. So I have to constantly remind myself that the swelling is still there and I need to stop expecting results prior to the 1 month mark.

Please provide any two week post op information you may have because I am just not feeling assured right now. I am still very sensitive around my belly button and my flanks so that tell me there is still some inflammation there. I find it funny that I am a little more assured that I still have some healing to do because of the pain in my sides lol.

I am posting updated pictures for day 12 Post Op

After years of eagerly trying to lose weight...

After years of eagerly trying to lose weight around the abdomen and flanks, I realized the fact that genetics and my stubborn fat formed coalition against me and they were winning the war. So after reading a few reviews on realself and a couple consultations I decided to go with Dr Ashrof.

Prior to Operation:

Consults and research is where I suggest you spend plenty of time. Find a doctor that actually has interest in the positive he can provide you (or atleast the one that can act like he is interested in bringing change to your body). You will quickly see several of these doctors are strictly in it for the money and have zero bedside manner. I went to one lady that spent majority of our time talking about the costs. At the end she told the office manager that she wanted to give me "a great discount because she really wanted to help me" she told the office manager that the discount was already included in the price that she handed her. Well my "highly discounted" price was $11,600 for lipo around the waist and flanks. Like I said do your research along with a few consults prior to selecting a doctor. I don't think you will find anyone on here that paid $11,600 to have their abs and flanks smart lipo. Also, through research I found out this lady was not a board certified Plastic Surgeon.

I went to my consult with Dr Ashrof and he was all about results. He has an amazing consultation room which allows him to really educate you on what to expect from him and after he takes photos of you he has a computer system which allows him to draw on your photos and help set expectations on what he can do for you. None of the consult felt rushed and not one mention of costs. He seemed very passionate about his work and I felt he enjoyed educating me about the process, no question was a dumb question. Dr. Ashrof asked me about my goals and expectations with this surgery. I said I would like 5" off the flanks and abs total.......he suggested that I accept anesthesia and go to sleep so that he could go down as close to the muscle as possible with no pain to me during the surgery in order to get as close to my goal as possible. He said it is my choice but asking for that much off with out anesthesia would probably require us to stop, re-numb painful areas and start again. I agreed with him on the anesthesia. After we completed the consult room Dr Ashrof offered me a tour of the surgical portion of his facility and I was quite impressed........ first off he was the first doctor to have a surgery center in his facility the other doctors required me to go to another offsite surgery center. After completing the consult with Dr Ashrof, I must admit, I was prepared to leave his office never to return. I thought for sure, in order to receive this quality of Doctor, facility, and the newest technology available today for smart lipo........ the price would be my highest quote yet. Well after all questions were answered and my WOW factor was peaked, Dr Ashrof handed me over to the Office Manager, Mrs Farah. She sat me down and explained the options available to me price wise. Without anesthesia the cost would have been around $4800 with anesthesia the price was $6299.

Oh yeah once you choose your doctor don't spend too much time watching videos of the smart lipo process. I'm a man and the videos almost made me back out. Its not a very fun looking surgery.

Operation Day:

Of course as you would have guessed from the pre-op review, I chose Dr Ashruf. So the surgery was scheduled for only 5 days after the consult and I am super excited, nervous, worried, happy, scared, and did I mention nervous???? I arrive at Dr Ashruf's office about 730am and I am greeted by his staff and the two ladies that will be assisting me throughout the actual surgery. I guess they are use to seeing big guys very nervous, because they did a great job calming my nerves and walking me through the preparation process. After I got changed in to my fashionable surgery shorts and gown, I was hand held through an IV (even though I have no issue with receiving an IV). Next the great and powerful wizard of surgery (Dr Ashruf) came in a talked with me for a few minutes to make sure there were no last minute questions or worries. then he stood me up and began drawing out his battle plan around my abs and flanks. He had me take a look at his drawings in the mirror and explained how he would attack each area during the surgery. Once I gave him the nod that I felt assured he was attacking all the areas of interest, he took photos of his drawings and we moved into the operating room. The Last thing I remember was standing next to the operating bed and Dr Ashruf was rubbing some wet sponges around my stomach and the anesthesiologist gave me a little something in my IV........... He said it would mellow me out a bit....... next thing I know I was waking up in the post op room already changed into my compression garment, boxer shorts and sweat pants with my wife laughing at the crazy stuff I guess I was saying.

Post Op:

Day 1: The next day after the surgery I returned to the surgery center for a quick check-up with the good doctor. He said everything looked great and that I had minimal bruising for the amount of fat he removed (2.4 liters of fat). I laughed and told him that I felt like he didn't take anything because I feel bigger than when he began. The swelling was bad, but it all tucks away pretty good with the compression garment they gave me. I was prescribed Motrin 600s, Oxycodine, and an antibiotic.

Day 5:
I returned to the doctor on day 5 because I had to go out of town for a while for my job. On day 5 I explained to Dr Ashruf that I was worried because I was still leaking blood and tumescent fluid this far along. He said it was perfectly normal being that I had so much removed from this one area. He gave me a couple extra boxes of sterile pads for the leaking and even several large bed pads for me to lay on. He answered all questions I had about my upcoming travel and what to expect when flying after a surgery like this.

I guess the altitude changes caused enough pressure to force fluid to leak a little more rapidly because I had to change my pads after each flight because they were pretty soaked.

Day 7:

Today is day 7 and I am finally down to minimal leaking out of only one surgery site. I am still very swollen but the swelling is down enough where I can see the bruising the doctor spoke about on day 1. I will continue to update and I welcome any questions any of you may have.
