Today is my first day post op. I was so nervous yesterday but my doctor and his staff made me feel so comfortable. I have had huge breast since 7th grade. I was like a twig sixth grade and then I came back to school and they didn't stop growing. I was a d by freshman year in high school. A Double D by freshman year in college and an h after I had my son three years ago. I breast fed for a bit which brought me down to a G. I have had the worse headaches, back pain, shoulder, and neck pain. I have wanted this surgery for five years. My insurance (anthem healthkeepers) approved me in a week. I was beyond excited and happy that I didn't have any issues getting approved. On the day of surgery I got to the surgical center around 1015. The nurse took my temperature and got my iv started. My doctor came in and marked me up. He asked me what size I wanted to be. Anyone who has had large breast for as long as I have would want a small size. I told him I wanted to be a size c. Then the anesthesiologist came in and informed me what he would do in the surgery room. My nurse came back in and helped me to the surgery room. The anesthesiologist started my meds and I was out. When I woke up I had the overwhelming sense of having to throw up. Honestly after surgery I felt 10x times better. My boobs are so small! I haven't seen them this perky since middle school lol. Today i have been in a lot of pain. My doctor prescribed me more pain meds to help with that. I'll continue to keep everyone updated. This site has been wonderful. I have literally stalked this page for weeks. lol

After getting my meds changed I have felt a little relief. Was able to get some rest last night. I would suggest to anyone who is planning on getting this surgery to get the most comfortable pillows. They work wonderful. Don't hesitate to ask for help! This was the hardest for me because I being a single mom for two years before I got with my current boyfriend you want to do things for yourself. He has been a tremendous help. Get lots of rest! Do mini walks around the house. This helped me from remaining stuck up on the couch. Will continue to update. Can't wait for the swelling to go down. My boobs look awesome

Congrats on your surgery! Hope you are feeling better. I'm right across the water from you, in Virginia Beach. I'm in the process of getting a reduction as well. I have Anthem BCBS, and you have Anthem as well. Did you have documentation from your doc for pain caused by your chest or did you just meet with your surgeon only and was approved? I have been going to a pain management specialist and physical therapy and I also have 10+ years of documentation if needed. I have my first consultation with a surgeon on April 19th. I am hoping the insurance will see it as a medical procedure and not cosmetic. Any info would be great! Thank you for sharing your story. Laura

Hey! I just went to my consultation and that was it. The doctor and his staff submitted the paperwork without any supporting documentation and a week later I got my approval! Anthem does have the allotted amount that u have to take out but that shouldn't be a problem. Anthem was really easy to work with. Let me know if u have any other questions.

When I tell you I'm in pain lol. But it isn't that bad. I have been taking my medications as prescribed. The sides where my doctor liposuctioned are the most painful but I still think all the pain is worth it. Put up my old G bra to my new boobs and I literally wanted to cry. I can't believe I was carrying all that weight. The doctor informed me that he took off seven pounds! It shows! I would recommend walking and getting adjusted to the new boobs. I have still not gotten used to the light weight on my chest!

Sorry toy aren't feeling the best! I hope you get some pain relief soon! I had physical therapy today and I told my therapist and the lady at the front desk, she's also wants a reduction and has Anthem Healthkeepers like you too, that you were approved in a week by insurance without any other documentation. You give me hope. I keep seeing other ladies getting approved but they are in different states and my therapist said every state is different. So, as soon as I saw your pprofile yesterday and being so close, it gives me hope that my insurance will not give me any crap either! Lol So, I have read a few others getting the liposuction on the sides. Is that something you wanted or did the doc recommend having it done? I am just curious because some get it and some don't. Also, did your insurance cover that part or will you have to pay extra for that? Thanks again and hope you feel better soon.

My doctor suggested it to make my sides even. The insurance paid for it so I was like alright lol. Yeah when I lived in another state I didn't get approved even though I provided documentation. I guess Virginia is very easy.
