WORTH IT$2,000
I am 51 and my eyelids starting drooping a couple of years ago, to make things worse one lid droops far worse than the other. The last few years I've had Botox to try to even them up, but it's not working anymore and I want my large bright eyes again! Tomorrow is the big day, all my prescriptions are filled and my husband has instructions to take care of me. This is the first step, my lower face and neck will be next, but I have to gradually work up to it with my husband....he doesn't think I need surgery, but then there's my 10x magnification mirror that tells me I do. I'll post after pictures, wish me luck!

Even with the swelling, they look great. I can tell u r going to have a great outcome. I want to have mine done, and I even scheduled ut, but then chickened out because I'm terrified. I found a great Oculoplastic surgeon, but I have always had fears of eye surgery and the what if's like what if I have complications during/after. I want to do it but I can't get over my fear. Were u fearful? Do u have any good tips for me?

I was a little scared too, but progressively for about the last 5 years one eye drooped far worse than the other...I might have felt different if they aged the same, but I could tell I got my fathers eyes and poor guy can barely keep his droopy eye open when he's tired. The younger me had a very full face and fatty brows....the brows were the first to go.....I always looked very tired, for me I feel like whatever the outcome would be an improvement. I've been looking at this website for a couple of years of before and afters and and only a very small percentage were not satisfied and my eyes were only getting worse. I was getting Botox to raise the low brow and lower the high brow but it got to the point of lasting a couple of months. The was no general anesthesia, I was given a combination of Valium and adivin to the point that I napped after the first prink of the numbing shots.... 45 minutes it was over.....they put an ice pack on my eyes and they wheeled me out and my husband loaded me in our truck for a 2 hour drive home.......I was fine and took 1 pain pill when I got home, the numbness was wearing off and I had a dull headache. I fell asleep and woke a couple hours later had some crackers and dip and went to bed. I've been icing ever hour and just taking it easy today, but not once could I not see to walk around the house or needed any help. Although my hubbys been great and waiting on me hand and foot. I go back on wed to be checked and they will cut the knots out of the disolvable stitches. Only my husband and best friend knows.....we are going to visit my family for a party next weekend.....so I hope I'm not black and blue by then.....it's ok if I am....they know am vain. I even put on sunglasses and went outside today.

Thank u so much for taking the time to respond. Your recent picture looks great!! I can hardly believe u just had it done. U r doing great!! I still have a nice full eyebrow, so I don't actually hate my eyelids too much yet. My brow is full and I have the hooded eyes, which I was born with and I actually like, they don't droop down too much. The skin is still taut. But, I would like them to be more lifted like they used to be, so I'm having an internal browpexy with the upper eyelid surgery because it will stabalize my brow to keep it from desending more after the surgery. My brow has dropped some and thats why I'm not liking the drooibg in my eyelids now. So, its not just a simple eyelift. I think if it were more of a simple eyelift, I wouldn't be as scared. But, my dr said the browpexy is an easy thing. It looks like u have minimal swelling and bruising. Did u do anything special in the days before to prepare? Sorry for all the questions. You just have a great outcome and it gives me hope. :) I love great stories like yours!!

Sounds like your doctor has detailed plan for a good result for you. My major concern was hooding, I had consulted with another doctor prior who also wanted to raise the muscle that lifts my top lid to show more of my iris, he put drops in my eyes to show me the difference but I felt it made my eyes too wide open and I was born heavy eyed, and like it on me....just not the fold of skin that formed as I aged. The only prep I did was laid off any blood thinning pills like aspirin and ibuprofen. I drink lots of water anyway and usually heal pretty fast and if I didn't eat all the bad salty things, like trail mix with nuts and soup I made before the surgery, I'm sure I'd have less swelling. I am getting some bruising in the inner corners of my eyes and a little under my eyes, so it's not over yet,,,,,,,but no pain at all. I'll post another picture in the morning,

Thats what I'll do too. I'll cut down on salty foods and def stay off aspirin, etc. weeks b4. Dr said taking Arnica b4 and after helps with bruising and swelking. I don't blame u -- I don't like the big wide eye either. I have almond shaped eyes. I wouldn't want them big and round. The browpexy will only stabalize my eyebrow so it doesn't desend more. It won't change my eye shape. U were smart not to have the other procedure done. :)

One more question. Did the doctor keep you for awhile after surgery to monitor you before releasing you to go home? I never asked my dr if thats the protocol, but I'm assuming it woukd be.
April 4, 2016
I had to ask my husband the details and times, he said they told him it would take just over an hour. Just over an hour after, he spoke with the doctor who told him it was done and it went well, and my husband said about 15 minutes later they wheeled me out. I vaguely remember being wheeled out. I was completely out of it and felt no pain, heard nothing and had no idea what was going on. I had no nausea and when the Meds were wearing off, it was like waking up from sleeping pills. I am very pleased, as is my very skeptical husband. I go back to the doctor on wed to be checked and have the stitch knots cut. The stitches will dissolve, and the bruising is really starting to fade. Once the swelling startied subsiding, bruising set in, not as bad as I thought it would be at all, every time I look in the mirror, it's looking better at this rate the bruising may be gone by the weekend or possibly sooner.

I guess it was better u were out of it and didn't know much. LOL!! Thats how I want to be. LOL. Its a very good sign thst u e healing so well just right after. I hope I will do as well. I'm going thru a lot of fear about thr surgery and may not go thru with it. :( Its stories like yours that make me want to just get over my fear and do it. So glad u r doing so well!!!

Love too see pics! A Cali girl living in a la world.. Looking for a good doc out here! Living in Lake Charles now!
April 27, 2016
Awesome! My family lives in LC and Westlake, I lived there too 10 years ago, transferred to New Orleans and just moved to MS. I really like my Dr. he is in Baton Rouge and we had a 2 1/2 hour drive home after my surgery and I was fine, of course I wasn't driving. I did have a consult with a Dr in LC that I believe would have done a wonderful job too, but he was over 1k more than then what I paid, let me know if you want his name.

Are you really in your 50s? You look in your 30s. Did you have lowers done? If so Transconjunctival blepharoplasty or stitches under lashes? Thanks.
July 21, 2016
Yes I will be 52 in a couple of weeks, thank you very much! It's really all in camera angles, I learned a few years back always to hold the camera up and take a downward angle, smiling helps too. I have a full lower face, getting jowly and looseness in my neck. I started getting botox in my mid thirties and it's saved me from forehead wrinkles, and crows feet. I had filler in my laugh lines and tear trough a couple of years ago, but either need more fillers or a lower face and neck before it gets too bad. I have to ease my husband into it. I just had my uppers done, you can see with the before picture it's a big difference. I looked tired all the time and when I was really tired, one eye drooped significantly. My Dr said it would be a dramatic improvement and he was right. My dr has great reviews for lower face/neck, but so does Dr Harley who I've been following closely. Thanks again!

Droopy lids, GONE

maridetto
Well it's done, my appointment was at 11:30 am the morning, so we had to get up early and drive down, as we just moved to MS. Per my instructions I took one 5mg Valium and one adavin at 10:30 and to bring he remaining prescriptions, a 7 days worth, codiene ana the anti nausea pills. The ititial dose relaxed me but I wasn't completely out, so I was given more Valium one by one till I was out of if and that's the last thing I remember, until waking up. So far so good, at there swollen point they appear to be symtrical and large on bright.....it the actual surgery was just over a hour....ill try to post another picture.

Day after 4/2/16

maridetto
It's 17 hours after and I feel great, only took one pain pill when I got home and slept like a baby and haven't taken another since. I'm swollen but not anything like I expected....I could actually throw on sunglasses and got out today....I'm really happy so far, the dr was awesome! As was his entire staff.....the office and staff were very inviting, not stuffy or intimidating like some plastic surgurons office where I felt totally out of place....
This may have been, most impactful change in my struggle to retain youth!

I'm so excited that you had a great experience! I get mine done at 8AM tomorrow morning, and I'm beside myself with excitement .. and maybe a little nervous too! Keep us updated on your progress.

Good luck! You will do great, everyone I spoke to said if there was one thing that would make the most difference is to have my eyes done.....even with the swelling and bruising even my very skeptical husband likes the results. We had discussions about having it done over the last couple of years and I had a couple of consults, but he has been very adamant that I didn't need anything done. The consult this time was just over a week ago and when I met a lady that the doc had done less than a year ago and she was kind enough to show me her before pics I was sold! She had the exact issue I had and when I first starting taking to her before knowing what she had done I thought she had the most striking eyes. When my consult was over and it was only costing a mere 2k, I put my deposit and scheduled I surgery for the next week, without a discussion with the hubby.....lol....although he soon found out when he got the credit card alert of the charge.....lol. He was fine with it when I called him and told him and said please just let him know ahead of time when I want to do my lower face....post pics when you can, I'm excited for you! Take care.
