Hi guys,
It’s been a while since I’ve done an update on here. But my scar has well and truly healed. It’s more obvious than I hoped it would be, particularly along one side where you can see white dots from the suture scars. I was encouraged to keep my sutures in longer but I think if I had gotten them out earlier my skin wouldn’t have been as scarred. I’ve also been left with a lot more transplanted hairs than I wanted to be. I think when I originally had the transplants done they must’ve extended the grafts well into my hairline (super annoying) because even though I had a chunk of my hairline removed they’re still growing! My scalp sensation has completely returned and my hair has filled back out again. I had lots of hairs begin to grow along my hairline around 4 months ago so I’m patiently waiting for these to grow out so I can wear my hair up without heaps of flyaway hairs sticking out. I haven’t had a follow up with my surgeon because they never reached out to me for one, which I thought was weird but I’m not going to go out of my way to contact them. Overall I am happier than I was after my first hairline surgery and hopefully with some more time the transplants will grow out to settle into my natural hairs more

It has now been 2 months since I had my surgery. The scar is continuing to heal nicely. I did have two spots along the left side of the scar where I had ingrown hairs again. One of the spots healed quickly and the other one is still a little pink, it was also exactly in the same spot as my ingrown last month. The hairs are continuing to grow through but it feels like they’ve slowed down. As a lot of them are old transplants, the hairs are growing in all sorts of directions which make them hard to style but hopefully it will get easier. The top of my scalp remains pretty numb but I have no pain at all, just tightness when I sneeze.

So it’s been 1 month since I had the surgery done and time has flown by! I have a few hairs sprouting through the scar but as more grow the more I see that most of them are old transplants, which again is super annoying as they’ll likely grow out to be coarse and kinked so I’ll be tempted to cut them once they become more noticeable. I’m still covering my hairline everyday, especially now that more hairs are sprouting through because they look pretty weird. I’m also still applying strataderm once a day along the scar to hopefully improve its healing. The other day I developed a pimple looking thing along my hairline and after I washed my hair it started to bleed and I got super worried something was infected so I went back to washing that spot with antiseptic shampoo and putting Bactroban on it. I’m pretty sure it was an ingrown hair but it seems to be healing for now so I’ll keep a close eye on it. Hopefully the redness will start to go down, but from memories it took nearly 3 months last time, so still have a while to go.
Provider Review
Can't fault the care I received with Dr Martinick and her daughter Sara. I had my initial consultation with Sara and she made me feel very safe and welcomed I and can't thank her enough for that. Would definitely recommend Dr Martinick and Sara to anyone interested in this procedure.
