Unnatural graft placement

In Feb 2018 I had surgery at Dr Emrah Cinik's clinic in Turkey. It has taken me a long time to process the experience and the results but I felt I should share my experience to help inform others.
Firstly, I thought I had taken time to research the right questions and to look at reviews but unfortunately this did not prevent me from having an unpleasant surgical experience, and being given an unnatural looking hairline and graft placement. With hindsight I obviously didn't do enough. The reviews online were so positive, I should have thought more critically. This may have helped me, though it may also not have done. After all I had reservations when I saw the multiple other people attending the clinic on the day of surgery, followed by a rushed consultation with Dr Cinik, before being ushered into a cramped surgical room with an unknown surgical team (who were likely all technicians) preparing me for surgery. I thought "this doesn't feel right" but I didn't listen to my gut and went ahead anyway. Maybe it was the positive online reviews, or the normalisation of all the guys I saw who were going into have transplants, or who had already had them in the airport, hotel and city that made me think it would be okay. But ultimately I could have prevented myself a lot of unhappiness and the additional cost of another procedure and low donor stock, if I had just listened to my gut.
I can see now some other guys have shared negative experiences of Dr Cinik but at that time I could find virtually nothing. Please take time to read and consider these before making your decision.
My issues are:
- Surgery felt rushed and was very uncomfortable. For example, there was no break all day and they carried on operating on me while I was shaking all over. Possibly due to some of the anaesthetic getting into my wider system. I wasn't able to easily communicate with the operating team and found many parts of the surgery painful.
- There are many people who operate on patients at this clinic. There are multiple teams operating at once. Dr Cinik had virtually nothing to do with my procedure. You cannot know who you will get in advance and so you cannot easily anticipate your results.
- Like others who have been to the clinic my hairline is nearly entirely made up of multiple hair grafts. It looked unnatural (I have just had another surgery at a UK clinic to try and address this). Despite the hairline shape and the setting on my forehead being appropriate.
- Grafts have been placed in rows. My head looks like a cornfield when shaved. Though it is passable when long.
- I have had multiple consultations at other clinics since my operation in Turkey, trying to find the right person to help me. They have all remarked on my heavily harvested donor area, the level of scaring, and that it does not look like I recieved the number of grafts I was told I did (3900).
A hair transplant is a serious decision. I had a long recovery from my operation, emotionally and in terms of my appearance. I hope my review helps you in your decision. Be wary of marketing and online reviews.
