Great Experience with a Reputable Team

I underwent an FUT (strip) surgery from Dr. Lee at Anderson Hair in Atlanta, GA. I got about 1,600 graphs on the front part of my hairline. I also elected to get injections of stem cells on the crown area to help promote growth, as well as hopefully regrow part of the crown and avoid a future procedure (I just have thinning on the crown).

I kicked off the process by meeting with a hair consulting specialist who talked about the procedure, what to expect in regards to growth and timelines, and finally was introduced to Dr. Lee. Full transparency- most of the time in this initial meeting is with the consultant, who is extremely knowledgable, but just know it’s not the entire time with the doctor. Come prepared and get all of your questions answer!

After I showed up to the morning of my procedure and spent time with both the nurse and Dr. Lee, he took his time in drawing out the proposed hairline with a marker (we spent a good 15 minutes talking about what would look best). Once we were ready to begin, I took so low dose sedatives and I was out for most of the procedure (one bathroom and lunch break).

Some tips and things I did not think about:
- The recovery time is much longer than advertised in your consultation meeting. Maybe my case was different, but I was out of it for about 3 days after.
- You can’t move much the first 4-5 days after your procedure, so take off work and be sure you can stay in a comfortable recliner during that time.
- You have to sleep in recliner for the first 6 nights of your procedure (I missed this detail in my research).
- Super important to keep ointment on the sutures on the back of your head to ensure they heal without any complications.
- Button up shirts are your friend for this week. Use them exclusively!
- You can’t wear a hat for at least a week or two after your procedure.. this is something I was told differently in the consultation, which was frustrating.
- The scabbing and itchiness is REAL. Be patient and use the spray bottle. The scabs will come off eventually, just be patient.

This procedure took many months for me to consider and think about before saying “yes”, but I am glad I did it. It took a lot of research and a lot of questions needing to be answered for me to feel like it was worth it and that I will thank myself in the long run, and I really do think I will.

Dr. Lee and his team were extremely kind, professional, and eased a lot of my anxiety before the procedure began. The best thing Dr. Lee said was “I want this procedure to look good now in the short term, but I want it to look great in 30 years,” which goes to show he cares about his patients and wants everyone to feel their best. If I need another procedure in the future, Dr. Lee is at the top of my list and I recommend anyone to at least go and meet him and his team, and decide for yourself. I am sure glad I took that step.
