Transplanted hair is slowly growing - 2 months post-op

The King’s Transplant
WORTH IT
Very happy with Dr. Cinik’s Clinic Hospital. Living in the Midwest of the Unites States, little is ever said about Turkey let alone a hair transplant clinic in Istanbul. Over the past few years I’ve looked into hair transplants but quickly abandoned the idea after seeing the extremely high prices that are being charged in the US cities. After my wife told me about a colleague who made the journey to Istanbul, I decided to look into it again. Years prior I spoke with some U of M surgeons who were being trained in plastic surgery by Brazilian doctors. With this in mind and knowing that half the Doctors in the US are now form outside the USA, I wasn’t concerned about having a non American Doc. After all my primary Doc is from India so what the hell, let’s get’er done. Lol! But before I made the final decision I got carried away watching YouTube videos and reading reviews. I searched Brazil, Mexico, Poland and of course Turkey. Hands down, my gut told me Turkey. After all the reviews, the good the bad and the ugly untrustworthy I decided Istanbul was my next international destination. After arranging my flight and easily setting up an appointment using WhatsApp I got my PCR test and headed to DTW. Many hours later I arrived at the amazing Istanbul International Airport. All who know construction will say wow, “I’m not in Kansas anymore”. As soon as I grabbed my mostly empty bag and made my way out through immigration and customs, I easily found the rally point where they greeted me with my sir name. Since two other foreigners were going along for the journey and had not arrived, I took a 30 minutes to get some local currency and have a soft drink. After the Brit and Spaniard arrived we jumped into the van and went straight to the clinic for our blood test and EKG. From there we went to a nice hotel where I got some well needed sleep. During the van ride from the airport the three of us discussed how we came to our decisions. Both Istanbul and Dr. Clinic. Speaking with the other two gent’s helped me solidify my gut feel. This was the right place at the right time. Full speed ahead and no looking back. After a nice breakfast the next morning I proceeded to the van in front of the hotel lobby. As I entered the van I found 3 totally different men who were also having their younger look restored. Lol maybe not, just hair. Minutes away from the hotel we arrived for the big day and for the first time I thought W.T.F ! But I have balls of steel so let’s get’er done! The staffs effortlessly moved us from room to room having a buzz cut, pictures and meeting with Dr. Cinik himself and finally the operation room. Again, I thought “W.T.F” and again I said to the awesome Technician’s Let’s get’er done! They were very nice, a bit funny and most importantly competent and skilled.
I decided against the painless method and yes the anesthetic needles hurt like hell for 15 minutes. The next thing I knew, I was being given lunch and out I went again. The day was over in a blink and it was now nearly 8:00 at night. Back to the hotel for the night where it was a bit hard to sleep, but I wasn’t going to work the next day so no big deal. The following day I became a member of the Prestigious club “ The Black Head Band Gang” yes , you will see members all over Istanbul! I mean every flipping where!
This is a great bunch to bounce thoughts and ideas off. There’s an instant bond as we are all there for the reason. I stayed a few extra day since I traveled so far and only regret not going a few days earlier. Some people have made comments of the process reminding them of a production line. This is somewhat true but it’s a production line the late great Henry Ford would be proud of. Why would anyone want to go to LA or NYNY, pay the high price for a staff that works on one person every two or three weeks. I’m happy to have had a great team that works on transplants every day. Quilt Comes from Repetition! Dr. Cinik has made sure the staff was top notch and extremely organized with the skill set to make the pickiest people happy. After returning home the staff continued to contact me and asking me to send photos to confirm it was healing up well. A week ago they contact me for my 1 month feedback. Overall I’m still very happy with the hair transplant. The non-transplanted hair is growing much faster than the transplanted hair but the transplanted hair is slowly growing and hasn’t begun to shed. I am prepared for it to shed but all is well so far and I know shedding is part of the process. Looking forward to months 3, 8 and 12. As many say, “you only live once” so you may as well live with a fuller head of hair. Think of it as an fun adventure and get’er done!
Sincerely Kevin King
