I recently underwent an FUT hair transplant at Anderson Center for Hair with Dr. Wetzel, and I wanted to share my experience for anyone who may be considering this procedure and feeling understandably nervous, as I was.
One of my biggest concerns going in was pain—both during the procedure and afterward. I can honestly say that discomfort during the procedure was very mild. I was appropriately medicated and comfortable enough to get through an approximately eight-hour procedure without issue. The staff was attentive throughout, frequently checking in and making sure I was comfortable.
Recovery was another major concern of mine, particularly in the first two weeks. In reality, recovery was uncomfortable at worst (3/10 pain) and barely noticeable at best (1/10). Although I was prescribed pain medication, I only ended up taking a single dose of Tylenol throughout the entire recovery period. That alone speaks to how manageable the post-procedure experience truly was.
As someone who chose FUT, I was also understandably concerned about the appearance of the incision and the visibility of the scar. I was pleasantly surprised by how minimal the scar visibility is and how well it healed. By two weeks post-procedure, it was difficult to tell I had anything done at all. I was nervous about returning to work and people noticing, but that concern quickly proved to be unfounded.
From a logistical standpoint, I appreciated how transparent and thorough the team was regarding the cost of the procedure. Pricing was clearly explained up front, with no surprises, and I was given options for paying in full or utilizing financing services such as CareCredit. I felt fully educated on the expense and comfortable with the decision-making process from the beginning.
Dr. Wetzel himself was outstanding. He took ample time to answer my questions, never rushed the consultation, and consistently provided clear, thorough, and thoughtful explanations. I felt very comfortable placing my trust in him, which mattered greatly to me for a procedure like this.
The facility is extremely clean and well run, and the professionalism of the staff stood out immediately. What impressed me most was the thoroughness of the post-procedure instructions and the consistent follow-up afterward. From the day I scheduled my appointment through the weeks following the procedure, any questions or concerns I had were addressed promptly and thoughtfully. I always felt supported and well informed.
Overall, for someone who went into this process cautious and nervous, I couldn’t be happier with my experience. Choosing a reputable center and experienced physicians matters. The providers here are board-certified, practicing physicians—not a trend-driven or fly-by-night clinic—and that credibility made a significant difference in my comfort level and confidence.
If you are considering hair restoration and want a practice that values transparency, patient education, and long-term results, I would highly recommend Anderson Center for Hair.
