Came out with a Case of Necrosis in the Recipient Area
Long-story-short, the clinic has a great business setup and a professional team of medical staff. However, my experience with them was less than ideal and I came out with a case of necrosis in my recipient area which could have been prevented.
On the surgery day, no one in the operation room briefed me before my surgery, not on how many grafts I'm getting, where I'm getting them, who's doing what, none of that. I was rushed onto the operation bed and the procedure began before I knew it. The operation lasted 8+ hours during which Dr. Cinik peaked in for two brief moments, basically just to say hi and see how I'm doing not to check or supervise the progress of technicians.
I was scheduled to get 3,700 grafts for my hairline and crown. The team messed up and did not see the marking on my crown area (till this day I do not understand how that happened?). So, I had to come back the next day to get 400 extra grafts in my crown area. So, I ended up with a total of 4,100 grafts. Mind you, before choosing Dr. Cinik's clinic I consulted with 3 other doctors and they all estimated between 3,000 - 3,400 grafts (incl. 800 for my crown area).
What disappoints me most is how the team handled my case after the necrosis had developed, instead of informing me of the complication and making sure I understand what was going on. They kept asking me to come daily to the clinic for a wash, PRP injections, Hirudoid cream and a Clexan shot saying there is a problem with blood circulation and that I shouldn't worry about it.
After incessant requests for an explanation which were met with vague answers. I lost trust in the team and sought a second opinion from another surgeon who examined me and explained the complication to me and told me there is not much I can do to reverse it and that this could have gone differently if I was in better hands.
The aftercare team in the clinic are great and they're trying to do the best they can. So, I appreciate that from them.
