WORTH IT
I recently had my second hair transplant procedure at the Anderson Center for Hair in September 2025, and I wanted to share my experience because I know how much other patients rely on honest reviews when making decisions. I had my first transplant at the same facility in 2022, but it was done using the ARTAS robot and with another doctor. I personally wasn’t a fan of that approach, so I was relieved and pleased that Dr. Wetzel performed my second procedure manually. For me, the handheld technique made the entire process smoother and more comfortable, and I feel it allowed for a more natural hairline design.
From the moment I arrived, everything went smoothly. I drove in from out of town, found the facility easily, and it was clear that I was the sole focus of the staff that day. They walked me through the entire process, even showing me a video beforehand so I knew exactly what to expect. Before I knew it, we were drawing my hairline. One thing I really appreciated was that Dr. Wetzel was extremely honest and realistic about my goals and what would look natural for my age. I’m 35, and I didn’t want a hairline that looked out of place as I got older. He took that seriously, and the result reflects that. My mom even commented that my hairline resembles my grandfather’s (he had a full head of hair with mild temporal recession well into his 70s) which was a great compliment and reassurance that the design looks age-appropriate and natural.
Recovery was easier than I expected. The procedure itself felt like it was over before I even realized it. I had worried about sleeping upright afterward, but I bought an inexpensive upright pillow (off Amazon, I searched 'reading pillow')and a neck pillow beforehand, and those made the first couple of weeks much more comfortable. I never had pain, and I was able to follow all the post-op instructions without much difficulty. There was some very minor swelling a few days after, but this went away in 24 hours.
As for results, I’m just under three months post-op now, and the transplanted hairs are starting to come in. It’s still early in the process — as anyone considering a hair transplant should know, shedding and “shock loss” are normal in the first weeks. It’s like the follicles hit a reset button. Knowing this ahead of time helped keep me from worrying. Over the next several months, I expect more growth, especially since I’m doing everything I can to support the outcome: finasteride, minoxidil, my laser cap, and ketoconazole shampoo. I really like that the clinic doesn’t just focus on the transplant but also on addressing the underlying cause of hair loss. For me, it’s male pattern baldness, so treating the DHT issue is an important part of protecting my long-term results. I had been nervous to start finasteride years ago, but personally I’ve had zero side effects and wish I would have done it earlier in life.
Overall, this second experience was noticeably better than my first. The staff has always been professional, respectful, and very knowledgeable, but Dr. Wetzel’s technique and communication made a big difference for me. I never felt rushed, confused, or left in the dark. I’m heading back soon for PRP treatments to support the grafts, and I’m fully invested in the process.
I’m genuinely glad I found the Anderson Center a few years ago. For anyone considering a hair transplant, my biggest advice is: ask questions, understand the full process, and make sure you’re addressing both the transplant and the underlying cause of your hair loss. My experiences have been extremely positive, and I feel confident in the direction I’m headed.
