Front Desk and Dr Bedside Manner Needs Improvement
I paid CASH to meet Dr Keller October 2021. She was kid of harsh about all the supplements I was taking at the time (RXd by my PCP) and the stress I was under with my disabled daughter - she made me cry at that appointment. I decided to wait on her recommended blood work and possible HRT treatment to give myself time to alleviate stress and go into treatment with her in stronger place, so I wouldn't be as easily rattled if she should have strong opinions again. I reached out a couple of months ago on the same email Judy, the office person, had communicated with me back in 2021 to obtain a lab slip and start with the treatment plan and was not replied to for a couple days and then tried I tried again 2 days later to again no answer. I was not able to get a response and move forward until ANOTHER 10 days later and after also leaving a VM questioning why no one was responding to me. I acknowledge that I have not been there for over a year, HOWEVER, I was told I would have to pay another $375 to become a patient again and go over the labs that originally was part of my initial cash payment. I requested an online zoom appointment to go over labs if it was available and was told I would have to redo all their paperwork, and that it was available on zoom. I invested A LOT of time and money to get labs and do their paperwork AGAIN and sent them as securely as possible via FAX since the only other option was an unsecured email. I sent an email followup right after the fax notifying them that I sent a fax and listed the documents sent. The time of my appointment arrived and past this morning and NO ONE CONTACTED ME. I immediately called since they have a strict policy on losing time of your appointment if YOU ARE LATE. Judy answered and I stated who I was and that it was past my appointment and no one had reached out to me and I was concerned knowing their policy. She said they did not have me as a "zoom appointment." I stated that is what we agreed to and that I was concerned now that I was being penalized for time that wasn't my fault - Judy stated that the Dr. wasn't ready for me anyway. Judy then started trying to request my paperwork, and go over medical history as minutes ticked by and I stated I had emailed her last night notifying her of my fax and asked if she had received both. She found my email quickly and then stated that she didn't have my email of paperwork. I again stated that I didn't email, I faxed as I had stated in the call and email because it was more secure way of sending personal information. We again tried the fax, however time was REALLY moving against us - at heading towards 10 mins into my appointment time. I wouldn't have been so stressed if they didn't have such a strict policy about me losing time and the CASH I was having to pay again for this appointment. Frustrated to lose my appointment time, I conceded to email, but stated my REAL concerns that this likely is a HIPAA violation and that they should have a secure way to share client private information. At this point Judy abruptly put me on hold, in retrospect this is likely what rattled her so much - as it is a very serious thing and I will be making a HIPAA complaint, less than a minute later the Doctor came on and said that she was firing me as a patient because I "upset Judy, and my staff is very competent, it must be a YOU problem." I stated that I didn't do ANYTHING but try to start my appointment and get frustrated with the process. I also stated I felt it was unprofessional after all the money I invested to do this to me last minute when I did nothing wrong. I was told by Dr. Keller that she was very professional in firing me herself and that my labs would be mailed, and she was hanging up now. Take this as you will. Beware of their HIPAA violations, in having you send personal medical info unsecured, and that you can be "fired" at a whim after paying CASH if you "upset Judy," who in my opinion, as someone who has worked in many medical offices myself over my career, is struggling with her role there at the front desk.
