So it's been a month since I had my first micro-needling, wanted to update everyone before I go in for my second treatment on Monday. My skin has gone thru a lot this past month. It's starting to look calmer then when I started. Along with the micro I figured out my food intolerances, gave up on my antibiotics, and have only been using aczone and Ziana topical creams along with a simple Nivea moisturizer and sunscreen. I talked a little about possible foods that may have been causing my acne bc I was on antibiotics for to long for my comfort and had no results. I did blood work for food allergies and I was not allergic to anything, later did the pinner intolerances test and received my results, I am intolerant to avocados which sucks bc I love my guac, coconut which I can live without. sesame seeds, this is going to be hard to avoid as it's in most breads and I love my bread. Egg whites, like seriously eggs are in everything and I can kiss my eggs Benny good bye, this one really sucks bc I love eggs. And lastly amaranth which I don't even know much about but I never eat it. One thing I wish this tested for is intolerance to different alcohols and or ingredients in wine and beer.

Update after giving up dairy.

So I've been dairy free for over a week now I believe, however I did end up going to someone's house for thanksgiving and I didn't want to bother the host with questions about my dairy free lifestyle so I ate anything that didn't seem to have dairy but I learned after that butter was a huge part of everything, that night I lit up. Besides that my skin is the calmest it's been in years.

Hi just read this post. Thought I would share my story with you too. I managed to 'get away' without having acne or any spots actually throughout my teenage years and then suddenly when I hit 21/22 could not stop breaking out. My break outs were focused similar to you around the jawline, mouth and sometimes cheeks and through Chinese face mapping I learnt that it was hormonal. I'm sure you know all of this - BUT! Long story short - I stopped drinking Milk nearly 2yrs ago now and I have seen A VAST improvement in the condition of my skin. I've also cut out bread/ sandwiches and stuff - I used to LOVE Starbucks Latte's and bread & Butter/ sandwiches. So could have been the dairy from the butter rather than the bread. I do still eat cheese... and I do still get 1-3 spots the week before my period, so I think if I stop all dairy it'll go... thing is - you must be persistent with it. If this is a 'dairy Intolerance' NOT an allergy - it will not show up on any diagnostic tests. If you are intolerant to dairy, it may indicate that there are some gut health problems, potentially leaky gut syndrome, which can be healed and repaired, but again takes persistence and time - but the pay off is WAY worth it. I've just today started to drink bone broth to heal gut.. and will drink this daily and see how that goes and also now to cut the cheese out. I'm saying this because I have done SO MUCH research as I'm sure you have to.. and I have found really promising results. I feel for you, know how it feels.. I really do. All the best!! P.S you a very beautiful girl. X X

I'm glad that you took my advice and I hope that everything works out. In my case, I only learned about dairy's effect too late and now have scars to remind me about that period of my life. However, I feel smarter and will be happy to prevent my kids from suffering as teenagers as their father did if ever my wife and I are blessed with children one day. Good luck to you.

Let look into micro needling, it will help with the scars big time.

Yes Rhinoquest is correct. Gluten and dairy should be avoided if you have acne. I was tested and it showed sensitivity to both. I had acne for years and am now goi g through microneedling - had 3 so far. If you can afford to go to a functional medicine doctor you can find one at functionalmedicine.org They will be able to do all the testing they think you will need.

I used to break out like crazy. Then I saw a commercial on t.v. for Orthotricyclen, a birth control pill that helped with break-outs. Because of this, when I was in college, I got onto birth control (wasn't having sex at the time), and specifically requested this brand. It did absolute WONDERS for my face. The breakouts stopped, and people started complimenting my skin. It was surreal! I took it for about 20 yrs and just months ago stopped taking it b/c I figured that taking drugs for that long likely isn't good for my body... . Needless to say, the breakouts have recurred - but not as bad when I was younger. Now I'm using Mary Kay's Acne products, which seem to help out. I do also have Retinyl for acne (from years past), and I still use when breakouts get bad, but that also makes me breakout before healing the skin.

I forgot to insist on using argan oil to cleanse your face. In combination with a mechanical brush, it removes the condition for certain breakouts. For existing pimples, a mixture of baking soda with peroxide will starve the pimple and dry it out after two or three days depending how stubborn. It might burn, but if you keep it on all night it will work wonders.
