My Gynecomastia Story

The immediate feeling after getting this smoothest surgery was just a lot of regret that why the hell did I wait way too long to get rid of this problem? I begin to notice gynecomastia since 2011 but tried to ignore it but the people around me would time and again remind me and it would just bug me in the back of my mind no matter how hard I tried to ignore and hide it. I had grade 2A gynecomastia (fat as well as gland). It was slightly asymmetrical, the left side was bigger than the right. However, living in a stupid country like Pakistan brings its own unique challenges with it as there is not a lot of help available online as you can't connect with patients who had undergone gynecomastia procedure in Pakistan and I was way too cautious about getting the surgery (the reason why years kept passing by and I just couldn't make a decision or find the right surgeon and place to get the treatment)

I had my surgery done on Monday this week and the thing that has astonished me the most is that I didn't have any pain at all. I had constipation for the first two days but that's not a big deal. I have pads/dressings on both sides of the chest and it has loosened a bit over the last four days. I am hoping to see my surgeon (Dr Ahmad Faraz) next week to change the dressing and take a look at my new chest contour. Although, when I look in the mirror, it feels much better, it's flatter and I am comfortably sitting in my compression vest and it has certainly improved my posture but I won't get ahead of myself because it's only the fifth day and I am still observing everything.

I consulted Dr Ahmad Faraz because his credentials were terrific as he has got MSc. Anatomy (Dublin), FRCSI (Dublin), FRCSI (Plast) Intercollegiate Specialty Board in Plastic Surgery (UK & Ireland).

It's not easy to find a surgeon of his calibre and stature in Pakistan. His experience and qualification helped me make a swift decision once I got to know where he practices and the price was nominal too. The private clinic (Broadway Plastic Surgery) was very neat and comfortable.

I got the procedure done under general anaesthesia. The moment they put the cannula in, I was unconscious and I remember the next moment of me being inside a comfy room with a blanket on and a compression vest on me, I was slightly confused but quickly back to my normal self.

I always wanted to get this surgery under GA because it makes it so easy and comfortable and I didn't want to be awake during the surgery. Literally, I had no pain until now, just slight strain kinda feeling when I do a brisk walk or try to lift my shoulders but that's again very negligible. I have finally got this load off my chest and once again, you can't bring the time and replace those depressing and annoying movements that I had to endure over the last 7-8 years at least so if you got it, please get this surgery done.

Maybe I had a very smooth operation and recovery and perhaps it might not be the case with everyone else because I had read how people feel nauseated and there is swelling and everything but I am yet to see any major bruising or pain. I will keep updating this post.

For those in Pakistan, please feel free to contact me for your queries, concerns and questions because I don't want anyone else to delay this surgery because of the misinformation and doubts.
