Hi everyone,
If you are contemplating a Mommy Makeover, I have just one suggestion: Go see Dr. Cohn. I considered plastic surgeons in Birmingham, Atlanta and Nashville. I narrowed my search to the three best practices and visited all three physicians for a consult. We are blessed in the southeast to have a number of fine plastic surgeons. But without a doubt in my mind, Dr. Cohn is the best. I was so pleased with how my surgery went! But I would be remiss if I did not also tell you that a great part of my appreciation for Dr. Cohn, is my appreciation for his colleagues and staff. I was treated with kindness, consideration and skill the entire time. Granted I was treated politely at the other practices. But I am talking about something beyond courtesy. Dr. Cohn's staff are friendly and extremely competent. And I am a critical reviewer which you will see if you read my comments on other practices. But what I found at Dr. Cohn's office were smart people, who were great at their jobs, who worked well together and did it all on my behalf. When I called in, I had a super experience (Thank you Mallory!). When I was in the office for the consult, I had an outstanding experience (Thank you Kim!). Dealing with the financial piece was clear and easy, and went so smoothly (Thank you Amy!). I was well informed and well prepared, down to the smallest detail. And as for surgery? You might not believe this, but I had fun! The staff put me so at ease and treated me like I was their only patient and an old friend. To the OR Team --- you guys are awesome! Thank you for everything you did for me! And finally with regard to recovery, both immediately post-op through weeks after, my questions were answered fully if they weren't already anticipated, Kim and Dr. Cohn were thorough and explained each step of the recovery process, and I can confidently say that I received superb care throughout. (Special thanks to Miss Bobbie!)
Do not let anyone tell you that this is an easy surgery. It is not. You have to be prepared for downtime, some limitations right after surgery, and some pain. But if you see Dr. Cohn, you will have a beautiful outcome that is probably going to be better than you expected (mine sure was!), you will be well prepared and informed, and you will be treated with both skill and compassion.
p.s.
1. Wear the compression garments! If I can do it in July in Alabama, you can do it too!
2. Make sure your colleagues know if you have limitations before going back to work. My co-workers were prepared for me to be sore and to need some minor accomodations because I returned to work with an active drain. It went great. No problems at all except for people stopping to tell me how good I looked or to ask me if I was losing weight.
3. If your drain needs to stay in longer than expected, please don't worry. It will stop eventually and you will not have to live with the drain forever. It might seem like it but you won't. Just stay in touch with your physician and nurse and you will do fine!
Blessings on each of you as you contemplate this adventure!

Welcome to the community and thanks so much for starting your review.

It would be great if you could give us a little more detail about your experience, like why you had the surgery, your tips for getting good results, pros/cons, and info on the recovery process.

Our community members especially love seeing photos from before, during, and after — a realistic look at what they can expect. Photos grab the attention of the community and encourage more support for you.

As a community manager, I get requests all the time from other members who want me to to keep encouraging people to share their experiences, which are so helpful for others considering these procedures. So please accept this as a well-intentioned request from thousands.

Thank you for sharing your experience, and your wonderful advice. I'm happy that you're thrilled with your results. What was the most surprising aspect of this surgery for you?

Wow, that's a great question! I guess I didn't realize how much help I would need the first week after surgery. Your core is so sore that it is hard to do much of anything independently. I definitely could not have picked up small children or driven safely. I was very pain pill dependent that first week!
