I am in France (GRENOBLE) and I never braces in my life and so when I came to France to study I saw a classmate who had braces and he told me his story and that's when I started to see that my teeth weren't in their right shape. I actually crooked and an open bite due to a tongue thrust. I also have a misalignement in my bottom teeth. I've done so far a myofunctional therapy (about 20 sessions) and I completely fixed my tongue thrust. I have a narrow palate which they will fix with the braces and the quad helix (I dont if it takes me 10 years to widen my bottom and upper palate with this method but Im sure that I will never opt for a surgery). My molars do no touch each other and when I am sleeping I snore a lot. So I started to look for a doctor and a dentist to diagnose me in order to start my treatment.
First it was a surgery but I refused because they(orthodontist) said that I needed a surgery to close my bite (4 mm by the way) and I urged them to find another solution since my parents aren't in France nor any relatives. There was one orthodontist out of the 10 of them I visited who actually accepted to find other solutions rather than a jaw surgery. So I started my treatment this year (26 january) and he put the braces only on my upper jaw because I have to do some extractions because I dont have spaces for him to pull back those crooked teeth. Results: I have so far extracted 3 teeth (not wisdom teeth but the 3rd molars). I have also done some cleaning with the dentist prior to the pose of the braces. My next appointment with him is on the 1th of March and Im looking forward to have a two year treatment before I finish my studies. Now Im undergoing pain due to the extractions but it'll go away with the time. Other than that I saw some reviews where people paid huge amount of money for only braces but here in France everything is paid by my social security or health care (I paid 300 dollars for the whole year). I will reimbursed half of what I paid since Im a student. They even told me that the surgery was free of charge.
PS: Im a french speaker so im trying my best to write the review in English. THX

2 YEARS AFTER

So far so good. It has been two years now. I have taken many photos of my brace's evolution but due to a lack of a computer, I will post all photos in a near future. It's amazing how someone can change his/her behavior based on a little change of his/her smile. Thanks guys.
