Tray 3

This update is very late, since Monday will make the 2 week mark for this tray. It was by far the most painful thus far, with the first 2 or 3 days causing soreness when I bit down, especially in the front. By now it feels just like the other 2 trays. This is the first tray that has the bumps and hooks designed to fit over attachments. I do not have the attachments on yet, but my ortho said he wanted me to get used to how it felt before attaching them. (That will be my next vist, on the 26th.) I feel like this tray is more visible than the other 2, but no one has mentioned yet, so no worries. :D

I'm not really seeing any changes so far, except for some spacing. I'm excited for my next visit to see my ortho, so I can get another look at the clincheck. The lisp has subsided into having a thickness to my voice for a bit after the trays have been put back in. I'm very pleased about that. :) I am more than used to the cleaning process, but I'll admit I have not been as vigilant at keeping the trays in for 22 hours. I like to take my time while I eat. I haven't actually kept time, but I would guess that I keep the trays in 19-20 hours a day. I figure as long as the trays don't feel tight at the end of 2 weeks, I won't stress too much about it. I am still using the same cleaning process, with the same awesome results.

I uploaded some pictures with the aligners in. Till next time!

So, the picture didn't upload, of course.

Tray 2, Day 1

Boy, oh boy! You don't realize how nice that old tray is fitting until you put in a new one! As was suggested, I put Tray 2 in the evening after dinner (opting for a beer and spiked hot chocolate rather than the aspirin Invisalign recommended) and the tightness was painful. The fit seemed so off I went and made double sure i had the right aligner in. I can honestly say that within 20 minutes, I didn't even realize it was there! How awesome is that? My teeth are sore when I first eat after taking the aligners out, but that goes away with time. This tray seems thicker than the first to me, and I filed down the edges a bit to save my tongue.

I uploaded a picture comparing my first set after 2 weeks to my newest set. I am really happy with the way the baking soda is keeping the trays clear and there was no smell whatsoever! I have streamlined the cleaning process down to soaking in a water/soda bath while I eat, then rinsing them before putting them back in (after brushing and flossing, of course). I don't even scrub with a toothbrush unless they look/feel dirty, because I felt this clouded them over more.

That's about all there is to report right now. I see my ortho on Feb 26 at the end of tray 3 and am hoping to get more info about my clincheck, and I'll be having my attachments put on as well. I cheated a bit and looked at Tray 3, which shows I will be having about 18 attachments (yuck, but none on the front 2 teeth, surprisingly) and 4 rubber bands. Not positive about that last part, so I will update on that after the visit. I'm concerned about my teeth lining up in the middle at the end of treatment, since I am missing one in the back on the right hand side. Another reason to see that clinchek again. :D So far, very optimistic, and the whole process os becoming routine, even after only 2 weeks. Until next time!
