I'm new to this forum, but so very thankful to find it. I, like alot of women decided to get implants 22 yrs ago to be more pleasing to my boyfriend. Mine are the "Replica" silicone implants that are no longer around. Now, at the time and throughout most of my implant life, I've enjoyed having them. But for the past year, I started noticing that they really didn't feel a part of me anymore. And then a couple months ago my left breast became hard, swollen and painful and I found a lump. I went to my doctor and he had me get an ultrasound. The ultrasound wasn't enough, so I had a MRI. The MRI showed both implants ruptured with an undetermined mass. My doctor then had me get a mammogram, I guess to confirm the mass? Anyway, I had my mind set on just replacing my implants when I went to the PS. But, he let me know that my lymph nodes are swollen and had shown up that way 6 yrs ago on the last MRI which was news to me. He wanted to have my lymph nodes biopsied to check for cancer first before putting new implants in. Anyway, he sent me to a cancer doc to arrange that and in the meantime I found this site. This site has been a Godsend for me. Because of the many stories I've read on explants w/out replacement, I've decided to not replace mine. I do not want to ever go through this again. I went back to the PS this morning to give him my decision, which he was all for surprisingly. So on July 2nd, I'll finally get these painful torpedos out and they'll do the biopsies on the mass and lymph nodes then. Now, I'm just praying that no cancer will show up. I will post a before pic later.

My very first implants were Replica and they ruptured in 2007. I got replacements and regret it! I like you have enlarged lymph nodes (from floating silicone). I am scheduled for explantation without replacement at the end of July. I didn't even think to ask my ps if he could send the implants/capsules to pathology. Good luck to you!

I wouldn't of thought of it either, but my PS said he had a patient 2 yrs ago with the same situation and through getting them biopsied, she found she had breast cancer. He just wants to make sure that's not the case with me. Glad to hear you're not replacing yours either. Hope all goes well with your surgery!

I removed 12 year old non-ruptured salines. I also had capsular contracture, and an undetermined lump. Stupid implants completely interfered with the mammogram, the ultrasound, and even prevented having a needle biopsy (the lump was RIGHT on the implant, basically, and they weren't willing to risk popping the implant to biopsy the lump). Well, finally I removed all 3 of my hard, unnatural and uncomfortable breast lumps (the 2 implants and the tumor). Happily, it was not cancer, but I will never miss those horrid bags or the fact that they can literally cost a woman her life through obscuring early diagnosis of breast cancer. Also, compared to rock-hard CC implants, even a slightly droopy natural explant looks sexy and awesome! Be prepared to feel better, and actually look better too. There are some ups and downs to it, but in the end after surgery it is SO worth it. Best wishes for all negative (non cancer) pathologies for you too!

Wow! Thank you so much for sharing your story with me. I've been on an emotional rollercoaster since this all began. Just hearing how much happier you & others are really helps me stay positive about having this done. I told my 11 yr old daughter that I couldn't wait to share her tops with her.

Ok, I've been reading and seeing some of the horrid outcomes such as caved in nipples and distorted breast. Please tell me this is rare.

I wouldn't say they are horrid outcomes, I would say they are the results of the mistake of putting something toxic in the body (implants)....have you also seen how with a short period of time the caveness and distortions improve greatly?? Good luck!
