So I have tried just about everything to get my malasma to go away. I finally did a ton of research and came across the vi peel. I did it today and will update later on.. The procedure itself was painless and actually enjoyable. I purchased a package of 3. I didn't know what malasma was at first and drs who knew nothing about it tried to have me do fraxel as well as countless other procedures. Thankfully I did my research. Any thing with heat can make malasma a lot worse. I finally got fed up with looking like this. So many people have been commenting asking "what happened to your skin?" "I didn't know you had so many freckles!" It became really embarrassing. It also came out of nowhere. A year and a half ago I had flawless skin. I now know it can be hereditary as well as from hormonal changes I could be going through. I live a very healthy life style, eat all organic, workout 6 days a week and just really take pride in my overall health. I pray this is the answer to my problems. It's gotten to the point I will not leave the house without a full face of makeup. So hopefully by me putting myself out there in this review I can help someone else in my position. The dr sent me home with vi brand cleanser, aftercare cream, spf and towellets. They leave the peel on for 4 hours so you leave your appointment looking a bit orange. I will keep you posted as time goes by!

Day two post peel
cmcase004April 16, 2015
It's day two post peel.. Skin feel pretty normal for the most part. A bit itchy at night. Starting to peel around my nose, mouth and on my forehead. I don't look as scary as I thought I would lol!! My face looks pretty tan, I'm guessing from the dead skin that hasn't peeled off yet. Can't wait to see the results day 5 and on..

I really hope it works for you. I was honestly not impressed with this peel at all. I think it might work better for melasma though compared to my issues of hormonal acne and minor acne scarring. And I completely agree with you, it wasn't as bad as I anticipated it would be afterwards. Good luck!

Thank you Maggie! I was too having really bad "hormonal" acne... Which is what the dr called it I saw a while back. I changed my skin care routine and it completely went away. I wear makeup everyday and thought my cleanser at night would be good enough to take it off. I clean my brushes once a week also. I started using the neutragena makeup remover wipes all Over my face before cleansing my skin with clearasil rapid acne scrub at night and since then I have not had one pimple.. I thought there was no answer to getting rid of my acne and I've spent thousand of dollars on facials, treatments, creams etc. But something SOOO simple from cvs helped..

Keep us updated. I'm curious about this particular peel.

Melasma can also be brought on my pregnancy. This happened to a friend, but her condition went away on its own after about a year.

Your face has great texture! I, too, I have Melamsa ;( It's a frustrating condition. Grrrr. I'm sure you were advised to wear a hat and use physical block sunscreen. It's crucial to keep UV rays off your face. I'd suggest using an umbrella this time of year. In reality its almost impossible to completely eliminate UV exposure. :(
I'm anxious to hear about your progress!
$1000 seems a little steep considering the ingredients in the peel. Was it preformed by a board certified dermatologist?

Will be doing another

After my first peel the spots have definitely became lighter. After summer is over and I have more time to hide in the house I will definitely do a full 3 peels in a row. My skin texture is the same but smoother. I don't have anything bad to say about it and will try again. I asked my dr about spray tans after I was completely done peeling and my skin was back to normal. She said absolutely that's fine. So I tried it. My Melasma is blended and your can barely see it ! Who ever thought a simple spray tan would help!!

If you don't like your results, go for the TCA peel. Downtime sucks but every freckle on my face was gone. I did it for acne scarring, which didn't help but it truly works for hyper pigmentation.
