After doing tons of research I called to schedule...
After doing tons of research I called to schedule an appointment to attend a free seminar. When I called they wanted to add my support person so I added my husband. I was happy about t but told my husband just attend the seminar with me you don't have to say yes to anything. The seminar was very informative and they answered a lot of questions.. The seminar took 3-4 hours but well worth going to.
After the seminar was over I decided to move forward but my husband still had his doubts...No biggie! In the next week or so we did blood work for health/life insurance purposes. My husbands blood work results came in and it hit hard.. Time for a change!
I was 5'6 268 lbs My husband 5'9 348 lbs ...We needed to make changes in our lives for the better... The whole process took 6 months.... We attended once a month support group that southern surgical provided free.. He did Blood work , EKG'S , Chest X-Rays, Endoscopy, Counseling , We saw a Nutritionist and the PA...
I am so thankful they took every step to make sure we was healthy enough to undergo surgery. My husband and I did this procedure on the same day by the same doctor.. I did not know about real self until now to post a review. We both are almost out 4 years and lost 100-120 lbs each.... If we could do it all over again we would in a heatbeat ...
The only issue is my husband had to have his gall bladder removed but it went smoothly and he was glad when the same doctor who did the weigh loss surgery was available t do the surgery... I did not have to have this because I had mine removed many years ago..
We still attend weight loss group to help others that have questions about the surgery.. I am not sure about the cost of the procedures since insurance paid almost all of it but I will say that Dr.Mann is an excellent surgeon and I would not have chosen anyone else..This was my husbands 1st surgery and he was very worried but Dr.Mann and Julie put his mind at ease along with his staff and Laura is awesome!!! She and most of the staff at southern surgical know what you are going through because they have had gastric bypass, the sleeve and other weight loss procedures..
I love that southern surgical has opened a protein store in their office and offer free group support plus most of the other health check ups can be done next door to their office!! No need to drive all over to get things done.
We are blessed to have this team of people in our lives and will continue to help others with attending support groups... Now the reason I found realsef was to research plastic surgery after the weight loss...So now my next journey begins!!
I want to thank Southern Surgical for saving our lives and giving us a better , healthier one plus they gave us support when we needed it the most. I can not thank them enough and the staff there.. I have my husband healthly and we are truly happy with the whole process on our journey to better ourselves and live longer. Would we have had ths in our home state of texas? I am not sure but since moving to NC we have learned a lot and what ASMBS is and this Doctor is certified.
Protein was a must and taking your vitamins.. This doctor will tell you that and you will learn a lot..We did and we are happy that we did.. We both had little pain but I was the stubborn one who didn't want to walk after surgery or eat..My husband pushed me to move on and do it.. I am thankful to have him as my support person and the staff tells you that you will need one.. I concurwith them..Never give up on being health.

I would describe my Doctor as one who listens to you and does the procedure that is best for you..He doesn't sugar coat anything and says it is a TOOL he has given you and you still have to do the work. He is one amazing doctor.
