I had a z plastic scar revision done on my forehead I previously had a straight scar between my eyebrows that resulted in a motor vehicle accident I was in over ten years ago. I thought it was time to do something about it to improve the cosmetic appearance. Although it did improve over time it still was very noticeable to me. Am hoping for much better improvement cosmetically. It does look worse than the original scar fingers crossed this technique gives a more desirable look cosmetically will update regularly.

I had an almost identical scar on my forehead and almost the exact same procedure done to improve it. It'll take a little time and patience to see the improvement but I can see from your picture that that is likely going to heal quite nicely.

Hi benzs55a can you tell me how long it took for your's to improve? are you happy with your results? i'm booked in with a dermatologist i'd like to get the v beam done for the redness & laser to smooth it out as much as possible ill be applying silicone sheets religiously too let me know your thoughts thank goodness for realself!

I also used those methods as well afterwards. What I am about to say comes from personal experience and the best I have ever talked to agree with this. You must wait a minimum of 6 weeks before going over the scar with the resurfacing laser. Also, do not get convinced by anyone to use any fraxel, fractionated co2 or fractionated erbium, or even full erbium. All of these are useless and all receive poor reviews. Only a true fully ablative co2 laser has the power to plain down the scar to the level of surrounding skin. It works beautifully because scar tissue ablates more easily then the surrounding skin. No other laser compares to this device, read reviews. Some doctors advise against them because of possible side effects due to the power of this laser, but as long as you take excellent care of the wound you'll have no problems.

As for the V-Beam, it does work well removing redness from the scar, but after it's fully healed from the co2 it may not even be necessary. Lastly, never use silicone strips on a fresh wound, but they are pretty effective and simple to use.

Did you have the fully ablative done? If so how many did you have done? Wondering how many sessions is need to get a satisfactory result

I had the same thing done 17 years ago. I ended up with a lumpy scar on my forehead. That's all I ever see on a daily basis. A dermatologist suggest I try Scaraway silicone gel strips and wear it everyday for at least 3 months. The difference in my scar is unbelievable. It has flattened it out tremendously. If only I had been able to do the same 17 years ago! I highly suggest you use the scar strips as soon as the time is right.

I also found silicon sheet good with smooth things out, but not good with coloring.

Cant thankyou enough! Did you find your eyebrows went a bit out of shape after your procedure my eyebrows are uneven big time! I do hope they go back to normal eveness after swelling disappears.
March 24, 2016
It did but as the scar settles down it'll go pretty close to back normal, to the degree that you'll notice it a bit but no one else will be able to tell. That process however took about 3 months.

Phew thank goodness for that I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed by the whole process I actually had a breast reduction done at the same time. I have zero energy at the moment waking up & looking at this in the mirror everyday I start to freak out a bit but like you said I have to keep reminding myself I'll will get better over time. Do you have any photos you can share with me?

I'll check if I have any. I didn't really take to many focusing on the scar because it was something I wanted to forget about. Lastly, one thing that helped is the use of Botox on the forehead. Foreheads have a lot of movement and botox stops this for about 3 months. This helps because as your scar is healing your forehead is not contracting pulling apart and stretching/widening the scar as it's trying to heal.

Hi, I had a similar surgery a month ago, you have to wait at least 6 months to see the results, so is all about time.

Any updates??

I had a somewhat similar procedure on my forehead. It was a revision from a surgery i had done. Unfortunately for me it made it made it worse Part of the scar looks better the other part looks worse. Ive had a few fraxel lasers and most recently Ipl and Vbeam. The fraxel only improved it marginally. The Vbeam did seem to help with reducing the pink. Not completely but better.
