I had a very good experience with my first surgery - breast reduction. I always had large breasts, beginning at an early age and unfortunately the weight was taking a toll on my back and neck. I knew I eventually would want to get the procedure done but didn’t know when and after countless chiropractor visits, I decided to make an appointment for a consultation. It was going to be covered by insurance and at the time would be $500 approximately my cost for the deductible. I got everything in order (insurance, blood work, pre op test) and I got a call from the office to schedule. I would have to wait until the following year which would mean a higher deductible BUT there was a cancellation the following month! I took it and the nerves started to kick in. The only “surgery” I had before was wisdom teeth removal and I’ve always had anxiety so leading up to the surgery was the worst. It came to the big day and I was filled with excitement, worry but the minute I checked in the outpatient area of the hospital for my surgery, I was flooded with questions from nurses, getting an IV, surgeon came in to draw me up with the sharpie and they wheeled me away! I didn’t have time to be nervous and they also gave me “happy juice” on the way up to the OR which made me really happy LOL! I woke up in recovery, the nurse said I was recovering so well that I could go and see my husband. It went absolutely perfect for my first surgery. Recovery wasn’t bad at all - I wish the nurses warned me there would be leakage of fluid post surgery because I thought a stitch came out but when I called they said it was absolutely normal. I wasn’t in any pain and throughout the whole recovery, I did not take one pain killer. The only discomfort was getting up and down, stretching the wound area but you learn to adjust! I have always been a belly sleeper so sleeping on my back for a month was brutal. I am now about a year and a half post surgery and still love my decision. I have significantly cut back on chiropractor visits, bought my first non-special order bathing suit last summer, and overall confidence has improved tremendously. I would do it all over again if given the decision. I got the anchor incisions but unless you look up close at the scars, you could barely tell they’re there!
