I am currently a size 38DDD and I will reduce to a 38 C. I have always been top heavy. I started wearing a bra in the 3rd grade. Around 21 I decided that I wanted a reduction after having kids. After 2 years of trying to conceive, we welcomed a beautiful baby boy into the world 6 months ago. Since having him my neck, shoulder and back pain has intensified so I knew it was time. My doctor referred me to a surgeon who I visited last week for a consultation. Yesterday I received confirmation from my insurance that they will pay 100%!! I'm really excited and looking forward to my surgery. Today I scheduled the surgery for July 1st!! Yes, I'm moving right along. I go for pre-op June 16th. I can't wait to have this weight lifted off my shoulders.

Did you have to have nipple grafts? My PS said if he made me that small, he would have to do nipple grafts and I would not want that.

I'm not sure, but I think your PS would have mentioned it. From what I have seen here on RS, they usually have something covering the nipple area post-op.
June 9, 2014
looking at your pictures you didn't have a fng, he was able to leave your nipples attached. From what i understand they usually only have to opt for the fng if you you are very large and wanting to go down to a really smaller size. Which in my case I went from a 34j and wanted to be a big b or small c! So it was no way for him to leave my nipples in place when they were looking at the floor and would need to be looking straight ahead. lol

and you are correct, usually with the fng they use this foam type covering after the surgery like in my pictures.

Mallorie, do you know why a PS wouldn't want to do the fng? Is it because of loss of sensation, or possible complications? I honestly wouldn't care about the sensation if he could get me that small.
June 10, 2014
From my understanding from calling and speaking with my PS earlier today about this he said in his opinion a lot of PS aren't comfortable with doing it. He has been doing the BR procedure for 28 years so he is really confident in his work and doing the FNG for people with large breast that want to go down to a really smaller size. Some PS risk the fear of patients complaining of the flat look and its a way different look from your normal nipple. I have read some people stories on here and they honestly were unhappy with FNG. Me personally I knew I wanted to be smaller way smaller coming from a j and I also wanted to leave myself room if my weight went up and down. So the first visit he said to be that small big B or C he would have to do the FNG. I prepared myself for the peeling and scabbing Anne possible flat look and no feeling. He said 85% chance with a FNG you wouldn't have feeling due to the fact they are literally detaching your nipple from your body and putting it back on. The flat look comes from not being able to take the part underneath the nipple that makes it stick up. Luckily I have feeling. But I can tell they will be flat and that doesn't bother me one bit. I wanted to be this little so I would rather my flat nipple and be my small c than anything larger for me personally! Sorry so long. I did so much research and my PS knows I ask questions in details and expect the response in details and he always does. Lol

i have heard if women are really really big that the blood supply that goes to the nipple is stretched out or to long to make them smaller I think that is a surgeons decision once he gets in and looks at the wiring!!! Good Luck
June 10, 2014
They usually make the decision before hand so there are no surprises. At least that is how my PS operates. He told Me if I wanted to go to a Big D or double DD he could leave them attached I didn't want that! Lol but again some are unhappy with the flat look I am still pleased ;)

sounds like you are being told the right things. a FNG is only used for extreme reductions, the width of the breast root and keeping enough tissue for the breast to be viable are limiting factors, you want a breast that looks natural and fits your frame. it is usual to end up a d or dd and believe me that is great compared with where you are now - look at my review to see all of this and a normal recovery.

Congrats on your decision. It is ok to be nervous! I think I had read so much information and watched so many videos that I over worked my mind. I prayed though and knew that I just didnt want to deal with this any longer. You will be fine. To calm myself down, honestly I got on the internet and looked at bras at Victoria secret. Since I was a J I never knew that bras came in so many different colors and designs! I also thought about how my back wouldn't be hurting anymore and how the sores on my shoulders would go away after this! You are making a great decision and you will look and feel amazing! Goodluck and i cant wait to see your updates! any questions you have you can ask me anytime!

Unless you have big breast you don't understand

Mrs_Lady2u
I think I'm going to stop sharing my excitement about my upcoming surgery with my family and friends. They don't seem to think I need a reduction and so they don't seem supportive. Thankfully my husband supports my decision. I guess because they don't have big breast they just don't understand. **sigh** I think my breast are too big for my frame and they hide the rest of me. I'm looking forward to my reduction in two weeks. My body, my life, my decision! Focusing on the positive.

sorry your family and friends are not supportive but great that your husband is. I maybe a friend wear my bra on her head to make the point and after the surgery showed her a before photo. often we dress carefuly to minimise our boobs and people don't realise just how has they are. hope you get a great result and your happiness will convince everyone

I can understand where you are coming from. A few of my friends felt like yours. They were saying that I would regret it and everything. But my Mom and Aunt use to ask me all the time did they hurt when I was younger and I always said no because they didn't. But as I got older it changed. They are supportive but some friends still isn't. So I keep my joys to myself and real self. We are here to be supportive and encouraging. Good luck and remain positive.

I hear you. I had a co-worker ask me why I was doing it because most women want them bigger. Big breasts suck. I have always been on the larger side as a D but since my last baby, I have stayed around a 38DDD or 38DD. My back and shoulders hurt, bras dig into my should and are super uncomfortable, running hurts and nothing seems to fit right -definitely not button up shirts.
