AWFUL, I Regret It Every Single Day - Great Neck, NY

EXHAUSTED

I'm exhausted. I can't breathe, I can't sleep. I wake up every day feeling no better than when I went to bed. If I sleep on my side and put ANY pressure on my nose, it squashes my nasal passages and I essentially sleep suffocating. I feel like I only have 40% of my previous air supply. He narrowed my nostrils too much, so now I don't have as much air coming in as previously. Additionally, there is a bone sticking out on my bridge that somehow affects my breathing - according to Jacono, this popped out (this was what he tried to fix previously with a hammer, unsuccessfully). Another note is that after flattening the bump on my nose, he didn't do something that he's supposed to do - rebuild my bridge. Now my nose feels unsupported, flat, and I’m not getting enough air.
All in all, he went wrong in a dozen ways. This was not diligent and professional craftsmanship. It makes me wonder if he had someone else perform the procedure, or maybe he's just not as good as he claims he is. Or maybe he just rushed through it and didn't care.
Either way, I didn't spend my life savings at the time, $15000, for supbar work, for him to rush through, or to be done by a surgeon in training. This is A LOT of money. I spent double what I should have for this type of procedure because I expected to receive better quality of service, attention to detail, and a final result. I have NOT. The past 6 years have been miserable. The first 2 years I was anxious and not happy, but I forgave many of the issues as I kept excusing them as I was still in the healing process. It's now 2018, the procedure was 2012, and I can honestly say that this experience has been the worst in my life. I think about my nose every single day, every day that I wake up and I can't breathe, every morning when I go to the bathroom and wash this stupid face. I have to drag my feet to go to the gym and exercise because doing cardio is currently miserable. When I breathe in too heavily, my nostrils collapse and I can't breathe, so I can't even run. I used to run every day. I used to hate missing a day. Now I hate running.
I'm just generally exhausted since I'm obviously not breathing/sleeping as I should be. Which is really strange, because my main purpose in getting this procedure done is to address breathing problems. That's the reason I sought out an ENT double board certified. Aesthetic benefits were secondary, as long as I COULD BREATHE. Now I can't breathe, in fact, it's worse than when I started. AND I feel UGLY, embarrassed, anxious, about my appearance. I'm also anxious because I CAN'T BREATHE and this has become a serious health issue. I don't have the money to run around for revision plastic surgery and I also have a number of family issues that I've had to address. This has taken so much of my life, it's insane.
SIGH.
I am ready to start looking for a revision to finally address years of issues by this reckless doctor. Any insight, information, assistance is greatly appreciated. I'm in the NY/NJ area but willing to travel for the right doctor. Thank you for all your help.

I am really sorry to hear about your situation. I have never commented on this site but I felt like doing it after reading your review. That is a lot of money and such a bad experience after spending that amount of money will make anyone depressed. I wish you best with your revision and hope that you are happy and satisfied.

I am sorry that you had such a bad experience. Especially with the functional issues. I used to want a nose job but after reading so many bad reviews of various doctors I have decided to live with what I've got.

Please tell me that you reached out to him and had it fixed free of charge? That would be the only acceptable solution. Although, I would understand your hesitation to return.

I doubt he will do anything. he is not a nose doc. He did my fat grafting under eyes messed up and only thing he said was just make appt for micro fat injection.

I’m sorry for your experience too. Noses not being done right is inexcusable. If he couldn’t get it cosmetically perfect, he should have at least got the breathing issue fixed. I can only imagine how u must feel. Also, I don’t see any difference in the before and simulation.

My nose today

asteraki
This is what Dr. Jacono promised in the simulation and what I see in the mirror today.
As you can see, there is a clear issue in the bridge - it's crooked and unsightly and my tip is terribly swollen. Months (or maybe more than a year) after the procedure, he acknowledged that the bone came out of place and tried to ram it back in with a hammer (not kidding!). He anesthetized the area and jammed it back in, but this was temporary and useless.
To address the swelling in the tip, Dr. Jacono advised that he would inject a strong steroid, however, I received 2nd, 3rd, and 4th opinions and they all advised against it, as it was more than 2 years after the procedure. They likely wouldn't help at that point and it could also possibly do damage to the quality and integrity of my skin.
Another thing to note - I realized that Dr. Jacono never advised me to do anything after my surgery to address the swelling, other than just squeeze my tip once in a blue. I believe some are told to apply pressure every night in a consistent way, is this right? Shouldn't he have taken special care to do so, considering my thicker skin?
So, here we have:
poor workmanship, poor judgment, poor practice. STAY AWAY.

hhhhhh sadly enough to make me laugh !!.. your post just remind me of my worst experience ever with Dr. Henry Mentz in Houston! almost the same stupid excuses, answers and useless solutions. I cannot believe these kind of doctors who gave us whatever result then they simply move-on while we struggle with their ugly work ! ...

I had my first nose job with him and he reduced a bump on my nose but forgot to make further adjustments. So now my nose leans to one side, nostril is bigger than the other, and they don’t even match my nose. And all that for such an exhorbitnt price when it wasn’t even a good job. I wish I had gone with a different doctor

This is what Jacono's work looks like

asteraki
4+ years later

swollen, shapeless tip
nostrils uneven
bridge is gone and crooked

It's also nonfunctional, can't breathe out of this stupid thing.

I'm interested in revision but I'm scared and horrified of making it worse. What do I do?

I'm so sorry for you. I had the same experience with another double certified, on a top of that he did a turbinate reduction that I was not informed about, perforated my septum and left a nasal dressing inside my sinuses durin surgery.

Omg, so sorry this happened to you, has it been fixed by another dr? These surgeries are so expensive - I'm one to
Know, I've spent thousands myself. Good luck, peace Realself friend.

It's been only 11 months since the surgery and I'm not ready to go through this just yet. And there are only few doctors in the US who can repair a septal perforation. I'm still researching.

I'm sorry to hear that. I wish you the best of luck with your process too, hope you find an experienced surgeon to make the corrections.

Have you heard of Richard Davis in Florida? He has a long wait list but quite a few of these posts have included references to him for revisions.
