I had a Vi peel done to my face on Wednesday and...

I had a Vi peel done to my face on Wednesday and so far my skin looks great. I am currently on day 5 (day 1 being the day of my peel) and I'm still peeling right along. The appointment itself only took 15-20 minutes. I went into the appointment without any makeup, moisturizer or products on my skin - I wanted the aesthetician to see exactly what we were dealing with! She first talked about my dermatology history, my current and past prescriptions, and my current skincare routine. After looking at my combination skin, she assured me I would peel quite a bit (yay!). I asked if it was possible to do both my face and chest during this visit, but she didn't want to do too much on my first peel. She then swiped acetone on my face and had me hold a mini fan toward my face to help with the smell and the stinging. Next step was the peel - she swiped the peel on and while I remained laying down with the fan pointed on my face, she explained to me the post peel care routine. She reminded me to stay indoors and avoid face products until I wash the peel off in 4 hours with the provided cleanser. I felt confident and excited leaving the office (although my face was orange). I got home, did some work for a few hours, then when it was time, I washed my face with the cleanser, patted it dry, and used the first post-peel wipe. At this point, my skin still felt normal, just a little tight. I then applied the post-peel protectant and the sunscreen (just in case). That night, I followed the instructions and used the 2nd wipe and applied the post-peel protectant.

Day 2: I started peeling! Totally unexpected - most reviews said I would peel on day 3. I was excited! I started peeling around my mouth and under my nose. By late in the day, I had skin hanging off my face near the corners of my mouth. I continued to peel through day 2. I was hesitant to "rub vigorously" with the 3rd wipe because I was already peeling and I didn't want to injure or risk damaging my new skin. I decided to run vigorously on the areas that hadn't peeled and just press on the areas that had peeled already.

Day 3: I peeled a lot! This was the best peeling day so far. The peeling started to spread outward from my nose and mouth to my chin and forehead. My new skin was dry and scaly and continued to flake and peel. I kept moisturized with the post-peel protectant and applied a lot of sunscreen.

Day 4: my skin was still continuing to peel, but never in large sheets as I had read from other users. The moisturizers tended to mat the skin onto my face and I let it flake off on its own. Any large pieces I gently trimmed with a small pair of my husband'a beard scissors. I bought Aquaphor to help smooth the newly peeled areas, but since my skin wasn't bothering me, I avoided applying it to my whole face and instead just placed a little bit on the corners of my mouth where it felt extremely dry. Day 4 was when I first started to see my glowing new skin. It is super soft and radiant! Although, I started to develop tiny pimples on my new skin and some underneath the peeling skin. It was really hard to resist popping them. I decided to stand 2 feet from the mirror so I couldn't see them.

Day 5 (today): still continuing to peel. The peeling traveled along my jaw line and a little bit under my face. The center of my cheeks, the tip of my nose, and the top of my forehead have yet to peel.

My only concern thus far is the array of small pimples that is covering the peeled areas. How should I treat these? Will these leave hyperpigmentation once healed? I hope not!

I'm excited to see my results in a few days. Overall, the process has been absolutely painless. I do wish the instructions that the Vi Peel provided were clearer. Each person will have a unique experience and I felt the instructions were too generalized. I wish it addressed the questions I didn't know to ask during my visit, like whether I should "rub vigorously" on my peeling skin with the post-peel wipe, whether peeled skin is supposed to peel again (the answer is yes), the reason why I can't use hot water to wash my face, can I still shower in hot water?, etc.

Overall, I would totally do this again! Feel free to post questions regarding my experience and I will be happy to answer them. Happy peeling!
