I'm having a full Body lift (belt lipectomy) - tomorrow..eek! I've lost 28kg and maintained it over 6 years and am finally takIng the last step in my weight loss journey. I'm excited and anxious but I know I have prepped all that I can... wearing the binder/compression to prep has been interesting but I believe it will help after, knowing what it may feel like. I've taken lots of advice from other real self posts like button up knighties, arnica (post op), eye mask for hospital and headphones, I also purchased a wedge pillow and a side table for next to my recliner as I have a feeling that will be my resting place of choice. I've researched this solidly for over a year and am ready to get this done, my surgeon is great and my hospital is not too far from home, I'm ready and it's time to do this. Will post an update when I can.

Okay, so this has been an experience! I will start off by saying that from what I can see I love my new figure - even with the swelling and bruises - however, the tightness is something I was not prepared for! Having researched so much information on real self I was as mentally prepared as I could be, but after waking up it was a strange sensation to feel like my butt was up by my waist (technially it was).
The first few days where a little rough, the nurses were amazing and it felt great to get out of bed the next day, I ended up with 4 drains , I was sent home yesterday - day 5 - but still have 1 drain in place, which isn't causing me any pain, just annoying.
I tried sleeping in my bed and that lasted all of 1hour, my mattress was too soft and it seemed to pull on my incision, but my couch with recliner and precisely placed cushions did the trick.
I'm still walking like an old lady but am able to move around at a slow pace, the small things can tire me out but my husband has been a god send. Having friends and family there to help is a must, it's a huge surgery and don't underestimate how much this will take out of you, but the results will be worth it. I can wait to see what it's like in a few weeks....

It's over and you did it ... :)
Your pixs look great ... :)
That was nice you could stay in the hospital for 4 nights for the care.
I too, have been doing research since my LBL is not until September.
Question: Did you eat while you were in the hospital? Just curious if one wants to eat after the surgery for the first few days.
I did read a lot about the "tightness". I guess, one really has to go through the procedure to know the full effect.
How was sleeping in the hospital bed for the first 4 nights?
Enjoy your rest ... you are looking GREAT !!!

Hi, Thankyou for your message, the decision to have this done was a long process but I'm glad I had it done and I know I will love it in the coming months.
As for food no you really aren't hungry, I asked for a liquid diet after the brought my first full meal which helped but I didn't eat more than a few tablespoons of custard or soup at each meal, I have since picked up but I'm still not that hungry.
With the tightness there really is nothing to do just be well aware and take the pain Med's, although I used the pain pump and ended up nauseous so ended up going on oral Med's.
I had private health so was able to get y hospital cover included, if id gone home any earlier I'd have hired some things for around the home.
Let me know if you want to know anything else, all the prep helps.

Could i see a picture of the healed wounds?? Also how how long till your were able to go out like to the gym and participate in other activities
August 6, 2017
My wounds are still as my picture show as I'm only 7days post op, but from what I've researched you can start walking (mild version) from 4-6 weeks but gym is generally not until the 2-3month period. I will post more pictures as I go along though

Had a rough week, infections can happen
kkorevaarAugust 13, 2017
Hi all, last week was a little rough, unfortunately I ended up getting an infection that started under the glue hiding my belly button, since I had a the fleur de lys incision (vertical) I completely forgot that my belly button was there and it seems some water managed to get in, just a little tip:- using a hair dryer after the shower is the way to go.
Anyway, after a second stronger lot of antibiotics I needed to have the fluid drained, this was not a fun process as it included some local anaesthetic and a small lipo machine - not fun!
Wanted I wanted those note was that this apparently normal and "can" happen, I did all the right things, followed every hygiene out there and it was not to be avoided, all I can say is go straight to your surgeon if your worried.
On a good note I'm able to stand up for longer periods at a time and can now sit and stand without too much grief. Today is my first day with no pain Med's, and my scar is healing nicely.

Sorry about the slight delay ... Yep, things can happen.
PLS PLS PLS talk with your PS about taking a good probiotic to replenish the gut with good bacteria since the antibiotic stripped all the good and bad bacteria.
Glad your mental state is really good - seems like you have a great PS - sorry you had to go through the sucking machine.

You look Great! I we wondering if you I'd this lives in parts. Did you get your breasts done first, the this or how do you do it. My fiancé works lot and I'm trying to figure out how he can be there for me , how much time he needs to be around, etc. ??
August 20, 2017
Hi, I had my breast done a few years ago, they were easy in comparison to the body lift however, I have a friend who had them both done at the same time but a lot of surgeons won't do it due to the length of time under anaesthesia.
I was lucky enough to stay in hospital 5 days so I had nurses there for the hard parts, I'd say the first 7-10days are the hardest - you're very right. After that I was okay at home by myself but could really only sit and rest, I have two kids so my husband had to look after them, even getting shoes on can be a challenge. So in short;
week 1- lots of help is best
Week 2 - a bit better but you need to rest and
Week 3 - you can move around and do some things but be careful not to hurt yourself
Week 4 (me this week) I'm back to work, an a bit nervous but hoping all will be okay.
I hope that helps

How did you get to stay in the hospital for five days? And it looks like you have a small waist I wonder why they did a vertical cut down the center your stomach?
August 22, 2017
If you have a high level of private health cover in Australia they will cover your stay, I was lucky enough to stay for the 5 days. As for the incision I had two scars that couldn't be joined (too far apart) so he had to do the vertical incision as you can't join scars to healthy tissue.
