Hi everyone, I am writing because I am on the pre shake diet before surgery. I am so hungry that I am so tempted to just throw in the towel and eat a whole homemade chocolate cake and pizza and top off with some tinned ricecream. I have become even more obsessed with food since starting this starvation. Please can someone tell me that it is worth it in the long run, as I am starting to feel like I should just stay fat and eat all the lovely food!! I started at 114 kg and am 110 kg after nearly a week. I am going in to see Dr Victor Liew on the Gold Coast for surgery on the 24th October.

Hi, I'm about to go to my first weightloss seminar on November 5th, I have tried several types of diets of weightloss methods and I am so ready to get the sleeve. I want this for me, I've been taking care of everyone else and losing myself. The weight that I am now is the most I have ever weighed I'm tired of the up and down roller coaster weightloss. I wish you all the best on your journey, I'm looking forward to becoming the new ME.
We all want to be a "new me." I have the same problems as you as far as weight loss. This is it and go for it!
MSBYOND, all the best with your journey
I haven't had the surgery yet but I was scheduled for Oct 9th and had to cancel. I was day 4 into pre op diet and ended up not get it. So I now am going to reschedule and I will have 5 days of pre-op to do. It does get boring though. Have you tried the broth or tried freezing the shakes. Also try the sugarfree popsicles. Good luck I'm sure you'll be happy you did.
Freezing the shakes sounds good. I am on day 2 of my 10% weight loss and am feeling hungry, too. Drink water.
hi Bel, I'm in Sydney. I'm on pre op to for 23 October op. I only have to have two protein shakes a day, and I have those for Breakfast and Lunch, and each evening I steam up a HUGE pot of green vegetables, added to couple of grilled tomatoes and a rather over- large fist -sized steamed or grilled piece of fish of chicken. It's keeping my hunger at bay and certainly started my weight loss pre op. The first week was the hardest, and I'm into my third one now and it's a breeze! I'm really glad now that I started it a couple of weeks earlier than the surgeon required because I gig over the crankiness about changing from unhealthy sweet and salty fatty foods to this way of eating. I actually am enjoying it knowing it will make the op easier and less to lose post op. About 4 kilos (9 lb) down over these almost 3 weeks (tomorrow). Stick with it if you can, don't waste your young years struggling as I did, and struggling Thou my mid years and only accepting I'm not able to do it alone so late in my life. Good luck!
Good for you! I a on day 3 of my 1200 calorie a day diet and have dropped about 6 lbs. My back is killing me from all the walking. There is something to say for accountability.
Zen so happy you are on your way to a new life. You are right about the young years I wish I would have done it about 10years ago, before that I was over weight but not this bad . If I would have done it then I wouldn't have such loose skin.
Hang in there sigi. I was able to get on your you tube sight.
What did you think? I look ridiculous!
You can always get some plastic surgery if your loose skin is bothering you. It's never too late! I am 53 years old and I am going through with this come WWIII or not!
no I don't think you look ridiculous at all, quit being so hard on yourself. if you don't love yourself no one will. we are making the right choice by getting this surgery done to get ourselves healthy and move on to the rest of our lives. I plan on getting my belly done if it bothers me but if not I won't get plastic surgery done. I'm not worried by it that much, day by day I will handle it.
You're right! If and when, I plan on getting my flap removed. So glad that I have made a new friend!
I too am happy, glad that we both found this website!
Thanks Zen lady and maryella, I have been good all day, but unfortunately I ate 3 homemade Anzac biscuits last night and yogurt, but I am back on the bandwagon again and having my steamed vegies and shakes. Will have to stop coffee too, still having about 5 cups per day with skim milk and stevia. Old habits die hard! Zen lady, I wasn't told to have any fish or chicken, but that sounds delicious! Just have to think how nice it will be to run after children without being exhausted.
It has been 5 days since surgery, and I have lost since starting the pre-diet (2 weeks prior) approximately 10 kg or 22 pounds. It has been quite a breeze luckily in that I only took pain killers for 1 day post op and have felt fine ever since. Just have to take it easy, but I feel scared that this is too good to be true, when does the bad bit happen! It is a little annoying timing the sips all the time. Have got up to 100 ml in one sitting, then wait 1/2 to 1 hr for next 100ml. I hope I am doing this right? How are you going Zen lady and others?
Lisam76, I'm doing fine thanks and like you it's been a breeze. I've a total with pre op about 6 kilos, so not falling off like you, but it will happen and it sure does seem too good to be true. I've not needed painkiller since day 1 either. I've wondered iv I've got it wrong. I am still very tired at times, it comes over me like a wave and I just need to rest quickly. That happened after 6 hours at work today. Went home fell asleep for 4!
