Hello!

So I have what I believe is called an ectopic canine which is protruding out above the retained right baby canine - I hate it! I see it in photos and in my wedding video and it just ruins them for me. I've had the issue since I was probably 13 and it's just gotten worse and worse, now my other teeth are shifting and I'm ready to have it fixed. I've considered braces but don't want the unsightly metal in my mouth, or the ulcers that I'm sure I will get (I have coeliac disease so am very prone to them!) I also work as a customer sales rep and couldn't imagine having something so obvious on my teeth, Invisalign just seemed like the right thing for me!

I first was referred to Medlands orthodontics and paid $180 for the consult and they gave me a free 3D scan and quoted me around $8k AUD - this seemed like so much and at the time I didn't have the money. Fast forward almost 12 months and I go back wanting to get another consult... but I didn't want to pay again! They tell me it's free and they'll take care of it and rescan me only to surprise me with an X-ray that had I have gone ahead would cost $200 (wow I was not expecting that!). I told them I needed to rethink as I was not impressed with their lack of communication - they booked me in for an X-ray yet told me I would not pay a cent.... not upfront at all!
I called around and found Clear Smiles Orthodontics in Robina on the Gold Coast and saw they offered a FREE Invisalign consult, which included scans, X-RAYS... everything! I was sold and booked in, I had that appointment yesterday and couldn't be happier! I just paid in full for my Invisalign treatment tonight and will start in 6-8 weeks. Dr Steven Semaan will be designing my smile by hand, and he was so confident that i would be able to fix the stubborn tooth so long as I wore the Invisalign well (22 hours!). I would also get buttons on the stubborn tooth to attach elastic bands (not so keen but these things happen!) and that would create the force I needed to get that where it was supposed to be! The elastic bands from what I have read (and seen in person) are definitely noticeable, but no more noticeable that metal on my teeth - and at least I get to remove them whilst eating so it's all worth it. My estimated treatment time is 18 months, and the cost with a $400 discount for paying in full is $7595. I do have the option of accelerating my treatment and finishing within 11-15 months using the Propel VPro5, that however is an extra $1996 or $26/week and I'm not sure about it yet... depends how unsightly my mouth is! I'm absolutely beyond keen to start my Invisalign process, I've been wanting to do it for about 5 years and finally saved up the money!

It's finally time to start my journey to a perfect smile!

The Waiting Game...

I'm so beyond excited for my Invisalign! I've got weeks to wait and I wish I could speed up the 6-8 weeks so that I could start sooner but I'm trying to be patient. In the meantime I've been watching countless YouTube videos and reading reviews everywhere I can see. I'm mainly wanting to see similar cases, but most people with this tooth issue (snaggle-tooth? Eye-tooth? Ectopic Canine? Who knows the proper name!) have traditional braces applied. The orthodontist was so confident he could fix it providing I wear the elastics (not so invisible! ????) so I will surely be wearing them around the clock to get the tooth down as fast as possible. I'm quite nervous to have my baby canine taken out... it's been with me for a long time, and I'm dreading the way it'll look - gappy is not my idea of cute! It will all be worth it in the end though!

Also exciting - I get a free take home whitening kit at the end of my treatment! I also have a kit from Pearly Whites Australia which I haven't used much due to the snuggle tooth making it difficult. So I'm very excited to be able to use my trays as whitening trays! The Hollywood smile will soon be mine!

Bye for now ????

12/09/17 I start Invisalign!

I have a date! 12/09 I go in for a 45 minute appointment where my Invisalign is applied, I'm kind of nervous.... will they put the attachments on straight away? How long will I have to sit there with my mouth open? I have a bit of dental anxiety.... so hopefully it will be okay! The week before I need to have my baby canine extracted (first ever!) and that is definitely going to freak me out. I also have to get a clean and checkup which will hopefully be a breeze.

Will update more once I get them on!
