After much deliberation I have decided to get a chin implant and rhinoplasty.
I had my consult at the beginning of the week.
Pre op photographs were taken followed by a 15-20 min consult with the surgeon assessing and manipulating the photographs to my desired outcome.
Most of the appointment was info/Q&A with the practice manager(?).
It does seem to be a common trend for Doctors to let their nurses/allied staff to run through the nitty gritty and cop most of the emotional freak out which is frustrating but understandable.
I keep reminding myself that this is their job, and that a lot of the questions are the same for EVERY patient. I trust that if they see something that has a poor prognosis, that it's not worth the hassle for them and they would just come out and say it.
I have to be honest and say that I was very disappointed not to see before and afters of other patients chin implants or even a demo model of the implants and where they sit.
The rhinoplasty will be 'open RP' and the chin implant will be done intraorally.
Photo's to come :)

Hey Kelsie,
Feeling sick to my stomach at this stage. The only time I get a glimpse of excitement is when a see someone walk passed with a beautiful nose. I just want it to be over and done with.
Any advice ?

Good luck, you're gonna do great! What are you trying to change about your nose?

Hopefully not too much of a change from the front, ideally making it more refined. There is a small bump on the bridge, I'm hoping for the bridge to "dip in" a bit. I was hoping to get the pre op photo's from the surgery but they haven't emailed them yet.

Thank you so much for your encouragement

I had a pretty similar experience with my PS. I've met with 5 PSs over the last decade. Although my PS sounds similar to yours in that most my time has been spent with his medical assistants or other ancillary staff, I still felt the most comfortable with him over anyone else I've encountered. He has excellent credentials, was very honest with me about my results, and overall had a trustworthy demeanor. You just need to make sure the doctor you select you're 100% comfortable with and you're convinced they're the one for the job. After that, you can rest assured because the pressure is off of you! You're entrusting someone capable who will take excellent care of you and that's that! Just take things one day at a time from there out. Deep breathing exercises, meditation, venting to friends, speaking with people who have been through similar experiences (the most helpful for me), different things will help you feel more at ease. All you have to do is go through the motions. And I promise, surgery day isn't as awful as you've cooked it up in your head to be :) it's really easy and goes by so fast. I felt so cared for that whole day. I wish I didn't stress as much as much as I did, that day didn't deserve so much fanfare and it was over before I knew it!

Hi There,
My surgeon didn't run through much about sizes, types or really anything about the implant. I said "so you just make an incision in the mouth and put the implant there" and he said "yep, it has a higher risk of infection though so we may have to remove it in that scenario".

Surgery is next week. I have days where I feel a sinking feeling in my chest so I rang the surgery yesterday and spoke with the nurse. She was great and definitely boosted my confidence about the surgery.
At this stage Dr Doyle has recommended a medium anatomical silicone chin implant and open rhinoplasty.
Now that I have my morphed photos, I cant take my eyes away from the skin/fat fold under my chin. It's there in both before and after photos.
I'm wondering if the implant alone will improve this area at the same time ?
Also let me know what you all think about the nose :)

Your results are going to be even better than the morphed pic. Because it'll be YOU and your real live face! Try not to stress. I know that's next to impossible but I promise you, surgery day is SO MUCH less stressful than you make it out to be. It goes so fast and you'll be at home sleeping before you know it! My biggest advice is this, and I really think you're going to do this anyways: take your presurgery stuff for swelling and after surgery for the first 72 hours do everything you can to help your swelling. Ice ice ice. Sleep as elevated as you can. Your pain meds will knock you out so take advantage of sleeping in normally uncomfortable upright position. Your implant is only a medium so I'm sure you'll heal nice and easy! Also, my rhinoplasty was a cakewalk! I had open too. I'm sure you'll be better before you know it. You're golden. Get excited! Your life is about to change! No sense stressing over such an awesome and exciting day! :) best of luck!!
