Like most in here, I have considered a rhinoplasty...
Like most in here, I have considered a rhinoplasty for a long time as my nose has bothered me since I was in primary school! I have a small face and my nose just doesn't fit. I have a large bump and over projection.
I didn't consider it seriously until January this year after seeing a lot of horrible pictures over Christmas. As it was a bit spur of the moment, I decided to book a consultation with Transform in Glasgow as I hadn't done much research and Transform was a name I recognised. Also, because their consultations are free I thought why not.
I got an appointment quite quickly with one of their patient coordinators and she explained the procedure in a bit more detail and gave me an idea of the cost, but advised that they could not give me a definite cost until I had seen the surgeon. The patient coordinated advised that the surgeon was actually in that day and I could see him too. I saw mr ottaviani shortly after and I was a bit nervous / unprepared so couldn't think of many questions to ask! He asked me what I wanted to change and pretty much agreed and explained that he would do a closed rhino to achieve that. I was a bit surprised because I thought I would need open and from doing more research this seems to be more popular? Anyway he took lots of notes, asked if I had any questions and that was about it. Very quick. I felt a little underwhelmed as I had no idea what my nose would look like. I have since found out that not many places do morphs so maybe you just have to imagine what it would look like with the changes described?
The patient coordinated gave me the price and explained that I needed a synthetic graft so the price would be £5,130. I was a little confused because mr ottaviani never mentioned anything about a graft. It turns out she had read the notes wrong and I didn't need it after all, so the price was £4,030.
With all this I was a bit unsure about transform and I have not found much on this surgeon, so wondering if anyone has had rhino with him?
Since then I have done a lot more research and found RS which has been great! I have decided to have a consultation with Awf Quaba in Edinburgh because I have seen a lot of positive reviews and his website has a lot of content which I was impressed with. I haven't tried to book yet as I would like to have enough money for the surgery by this point. Thinking of a consultation at the end of march/beginning April and providing all goes well, surgery in June if available. Work commitments mean that this is probably the best time for me.
I read someone else's review recently and she kindly advised her surgery was about £5,000 so quite a bit more than transform but could be worth it.
The difficulty is there is not a lot of choice in Scotland. I guess others will have experienced his too.
