Chin Implant Removal + Genioplasty + Bone Shaving Revision

2.5 Months Post-Op, Not Sure About Results

Back in 2015 I had a chin implant placed. Unfortunately I was still unhappy with my chin's vertical height, and after imaging found the implant was eroding into my bone, so I opted to have a sliding genioplasty done.

I'm currently 2.5 months post-op and I'm just not quite sure about the results. I definitely think there's some improvement in vertical height, but I do think things could have been reduced even further as my chin is still pretty "long." My biggest concern is the profile view. I'm very happy with the forward projection, but I've got this sort of roundness or bulkiness at the bottom of my chin that I think looks very unbalanced.

My doctor said there is edema and scar tissue and we would reassess in 5 months from now, but I'm not sure I'm going to see the types of changes I want without further surgery. Any input or advice would be much appreciated. :)

I think the result look great. I hope you like it. May I know your feeling and pain? Are they back to normal 100%?

5 Months Post Op

I'm about a week away from the 5 month mark. Things haven't changed terribly much since the 2.5 month mark, maybe some very slight refining but nothing that anyone would really notice. As with before, I love the projection but still feel there's a bit too much vertical height and bulkiness underneath the chin. My hope is that we'll be able to go back in and shave this down, but we'll have to see what my surgeon says.

Thank you! My chin feels totally normal at this point (10 months post-op), no pain, numbness, or anything like that. :)

Potential Revision Happening

I spoke with my surgeon and a CT scan confirmed that the excess bone I'm seeing under the chin are step-offs from the vertical shortening of my chin. He said we could go in again and shave them off. At this point I'm just considering if the aesthetic outcome is worth the additional time and money.

You’ve definitely had alot of improvement and look beautiful! I think it just depends on what makes you happy. If you want the additional shaving I would do it, but to most other people they probably won’t notice this detail. But from my experience it would be better to have the revisions done as soon as possible if you’re going to, so you’re not dealing with this for years. May I ask who was your dr?

Thank you for your response and sorry for my late reply! That was my thought too, most people have said it's not extremely noticeable but if I can go ahead and get it done now while my doctor is willing to work with me I would rather do that than sit on it for years and potentially have to pay even more to get it fixed later on. So for that reason I decided to go through with the revision. :)
