After massive weight loss +65kgs, I needed to get rid of some excess skin. My surgery took approx. 6.5 hours, I wasn't too nervous about the surgery as I knew I was in great hands, it was the recovery that worried me, but less than 2 weeks later I am back to work and feel amazing. The pain was fine except for the odd cough/sneeze, after about 8 days I no longer needed any pain medication. I now have a flat stomach (I have bit of swelling but this is reducing daily) and I just love the shape of my breasts. Prior to surgery I tried to get myself as fit as possible (doing approx. 4 gym classes a week plus bike riding and walking daily) as this helps your recovery greatly. Hopefully I can begin walking again in about a week or 2. I honestly did not think that my recovery would be this easy.
My surgery was done at the St.John of God Hospital in Geelong, the nurses were fabulous, always happy and helpful.

Great to hear from another Aussie. I'm interested to know what your Dr's clinic recommends for scar treatment. Mine recommends rose hip oil massaged from week 3. I see all these American women here using the silicone strips and silicone ear plugs in their bb to train it to be round and smooth. It seems to have some merit. Glad you are having a great recovery, what do you think you did and didn't do that has made it that way, other than be fit and healthy before hand.

I haven't started putting anything on scars as yet, as I still have tapes on. I'll probably use vitamin e oil that's quite good. My fitness has helped my recovery greatly also being a non smoker and I drink plenty of water too

In about 6 months I will get laser treatment done on the scars, this is all part the treatment plan

I still have a fair amount of swelling along the suture line, my breasts are starting to drop slightly too which is to be expected. I am feeling so good, I honestly thought Id still be spending half the day in bed. I believe being very fit before procedure and being a non smoker has made my recovery so good. I also drink plenty of water each day

I had a consultation with Richard yesterday, all is going very good, he was very pleased with the way I am progressing, so I am, I still can't believe how good I feel. I've already been back at work for a week. I feel I am ready to start walking and bike riding again, though gym workouts and classes have to wait until after Xmas.
Dr. Richard Rahdon and his staff are so professional I couldn't be happier.
