I DID GASTRIC SLEEVE in Kenya
Losing weightDecember 27, 2025
WORTH IT
So I did gastric sleeve my journey has been different let's start i did not pay the marked up prices plastic surgeons charge I went to a gastroenterology doctor , and scheduled the surgery in a public hospital with choleistiatics i belive thats the word for removing my gall bladder
What the surgery did for me
1. It has limited my food intake
I have lost a few clothes sizes and my weight sticks to 78-83 kgs
2. My stomach is flatter
3 . I have a scar in my stomach it doesn't bother me as much but a plastic surgeons would have done a better job with my scar
4. I paid a very low price for supplies only it was as if my surgery was free this dr did not benefit at all
5.i am now pregnant this is one year post surgery and my food intake is limited which helps with weight control
6. My thighs are smaller i had full body weight issues and I have reduced weight in my whole body I saw this results 8 months after surgery so it's not instant
7.I NO LONGER HAVE A SENSITIVE STOMACH certain foods used to give me gas and diahorrea yeah thats not my problem anymore especially food from java if you are Kenyan you know the franchise it used to be so bad I am immune now so that's a plus
NEGATIVES
1.You will vomit out what your stomach cannot handle
2. I can nolonger eat brown bread or chapati or meat only because I vomit them out alot and biscuits it's weird my stomach has refused this
3. I can't eat and have a drink at the same time that food will come out
4.once you vomit you physically cannot eat that food again your body creates a natural aversion to the food
5. Because I did it in a public hospital the surgery was called gastroenterology something I can't remember the exact name , now the surgery took 12 hours due to lack of oxygen so you can imagine my fear after finding this out after they had too keep on waiting for oxygen cylinders to be brought in
Nurses during after care have no clue of what they are doing and denied me pain medicine
Dirty toilets and bathrooms I did not shower it was bad
Mixed use wards yes they were men in my ward it was awkward
Rude cleaning and nursing staff I kept on praying not to die there I was extra careful not to get an infection I hated it I hated it so much this is why I am not mentioning the surgeon name and hospital I will not encourage anyone to go there but I was desperate to get a gastric sleeve even if it ment going to a public Kenyan hospital hint its the largest in the country
