After several (4) attempts to raise my retracted lower eyelids by another surgeon, Dr. Prasad finally restored my appearance using acellular dermis spacer grafts, PRP, and collagen matrix. I finally recognize myself again for the first time in years. The experience was top-shelf, the best of the best. He, his nurse, and the rest of his staff displayed the utmost expertise and professionalism. I was treated with such great care from consultation throughout recovery and aftercare. The procedure was a breeze since a light sedation was used. I had no bruising or complications. Thanks to Dr. Prasad, I'm better than ever.

You look great. However, I am curious as to what your surgery involved. Can you explain acellular dermis spacer grafts, PRPand collagen matrix please. I'm new to RS and perhaps these terms have been mentioned before, but I missed it. Thank you.

Did you do your cheeks too and why didn't your doctor used canthoplasty surgery. I will do my eyes too my eyes show white after thyroid and they look rounder, hound people will be mean i believe there is a fix for everything from grave eyes. Are your eyes still the same now? the fillers didnot disolve?

I'm interested in the same surgery as I have retraction. But I also have excess skin - do you think it could be simultaneously excised in one procedure while also doing the spacer grafts ? I'm calling the office today. I have two issues, hound dog shape and excess skin. Thoughts ?

Also have you found that putting on or removing eyeliner from your lower lash line is difficult after this procedure ?

Looks beautiful! I am considering seeing Dr Prasad for asymmetric eyelids (1 lid lower than the other) plus tear trough corrections. You said dermis spacer grafts - did the Dr place skin grafts below your lower lids to 'prop' them upwards & counteract their retraction? Thanks for your reply

The grafts were placed inside/behind my eyelids. I didn't need an external graft, but the addition of external grafts were discussed prior to surgery.

You look great! What other corrective procedures were done before this one? I have the same retraction problem after lower blepharospasm (and one correction). I've been told I need a hard palate graft, canthoplasty, and mid face lift. The mid face lift is what I'm scared of and is preventing me from getting another correction. What is PRP and collagen matrix? How long did you recover until you could go in public?

Prior to this last fix, I had 2 failed canthopexies/plasty and 2 failed canthal slings as well as fat transfer. The original doctor said I needed a mid face lift, too. Dr. Prasad was able to fix me with just the alloderm-like graft, not hard palate. It took a solid week for the bruising and swelling to subside. However, after 3 days I went back to work and just wore light sunglasses. The Platelet rich plasma and collagen was just an additional technique to help the healing process along.

that's great that you got those results without the mid face lift. did they also do another canthoplasty as well?

In your review you don't say how your eyes came to be the way they were prior to seeing the doc. Did you have eye lid surgery that led to the condition? I did and I have the same problem. My lower eye lids have retracted and my upper eyelids are a lot smaller and my brow has dropped.

Yes, I did have upper and lower blepharoplasty. The retraction was almost immediately visible. Then, the hollowing under my eyes became so dramatic after the swelling went down. I looked like a hound dog. People I knew for years didn't even recognize me. It was so humiliating.

I had both lower lids done and my right upper eyes. I Am a47 yo female. My right eye looked half closed prior to surgery, it looked heavy, as the skin and fat weighed it down. My left eye was fine. Under eye area was slightly irregular in fat position. I had the area where it was slightly sunken in the lower corner etc the usual stuff you see in the beginning, as we start to age. The surgeon took out a lot of fat under eyes and on my right upper he did the same. I also had fractional CO2 laser done all over including peri orbital. I now have bad scaring all over my face including eye lids and I have sunken hollow eyes as a result of the surgery like your eyes, the moment the swelling went down I saw the same. I wanted to look a little fresher and feel a little better than before. I had been through a lot including nursing my mother who died of cancer and looking after a father that with alzeimers . It took it's toll. It has been a year and I feel how you felt. I live in Australia and had it done in Brisbane Australia. Dr Szalay was suppose to know what he was doing. I was wondering to get your eyes back to where they are now what are the procedures you had done? Did you have them done on the same day. How much total in clouding theatre and anaesthetic etc did it cost and are there any restrictions on flying. I was looking at having it done and after a week flying home. I have never seen any one on here until I saw you, who's eyes were affected the same way mine were. I have a little more hope. If I knew a doctor in Australia that did the quality of work as I see you have had , I would get it done here. Most of the ones that have a reputation here want to take the shirt off your back , financially, and the results are very average. I would be grateful if you could send me the above details.
Regards Laurel.

Hi you look great! I'm a little confused on what you did. You had rhino, cheek implants, and bleph with Dr jacono- that you were pleased with. However, you had a retraction that needed revision in which you had Dr Prasad perform, if I'm following correctly?

Sorry for the late reply but to answer your question, I gave a good review prematurely and optimistically. Once the swelling went down and a year or two passed the real results appeared. Granted, we age every day but it seemed so dramatically deformed from my God-given looks. My friends and family (that I hadn't seen in a while) didn't even recognize me. It is so humiliating.

Would it be possible to see full face shots of before and after your surgery. I think it would be great to see how the overall appearance of the face has been restored. Your eyes look amazing , you look younger looking as well.

Could you please give a ballpark price? Knowing this was several years ago I'll add the equation. Thank you and glad you see YOU again!

After the swelling settled and the fact that I've aged some, the one eye is still unacceptable to me. Dr. Prasad said that I have to accept some degree of asymmetry and that there wasn't anything more he could do. Quite frankly, I've run out of money to try and fix it anymore.

I agree with sosad4me - I think your eyes are quite pretty, and I struggle to see asymmetry between your eyes in this later picture

I'm confused. So are you happy with Dr. Prasad work or disappointed after a few years? I have an appointment with him in two weeks and I would appreciate your thoughts

Honestly, I'm both happy and disappointed. I'm happy with the overall experience with Dr. Prasad but sadly he was not able to restore me 100%. I suppose he did the best he could with my particular situation because my eyes were operated on too many times before him and I suspect there was only so much he could do. Being realistic, I guess I'm at an age where things were going to start drooping anyway even without prior complications but, ultimately, I would recommend him.

The asymmetry is really slight. And truly, you are fortunate he was able to get you to 90% or better. I know it is disappointing to not have it the way it was. Truly, I do. I have had numerous surgeries and I have not been as fortunate as you. I do agree it was perfect years ago, but having said that, as long as you are not having dry eye symptoms, pain, etc. it really is not that noticeable and it is pretty darn close. I DO see what you are talking about; however, you are truly blessed to have it repaired to this degree. Others are not as fortunate. Please try to be as grateful as you can. You are lucky that it could be salvaged to the extent that it he was able to get it. You STILL have beautiful eyes and again, as long a they are healthy and do not hurt you, consider yourself blessed. I am certainly not trying to trivialize your concerns or minimize your disappointment. I just have seen so much worse and I am one of them. I would give up 10 years of my life to get this much correction. Take care and God bless.

I thing you HAVE BEAUTIFUL EYES! Many times we tend to focus on things that no one else can see only because it's on our own body. You are a beautiful woman. I hope you can be grateful for what you have :)

I agree with gratefullady, ? did you have repair done for medical reasons or cosmetic, the reason I ask is I am having the same type of surgery with a little more but its because, I have TED caused by Graves Disease, my eyes are popping out of the sockets, which cause tremendous pain with headache and I have double vision on the right eye, now I have to do both eyes, and undergo another surgery called strabismus to correct my double vision, you are a beatiful woman, I hope you can see that, please be grateful for that :)
Thanks for sharing. We'd love to see some pics.
