I have been struggling for years with back and neck pain. I started having debilitating migraines that they can't seem to find a cause for last year. I went to see a holistic doctor who is not a big advocate for unnecessary surgeries, and he recommended that I get a breast reduction consultation. I did, and because of my height and frame, insurance approved my operation in only 1 week! so, here I am, anxious, nervous, determined, and ready. I have to wait another 27 days! This is going to be a long month. I have to go to get a mammogram on 6/11, and pre-op on 6/18. What all do they do at pre op? Hope to be able to share my story with you all.... and I hope it is a good one.

Hi I am waiting for my first consult with my ps. I was just wondering how tall you were I am 5'2" and have a 36 ddd bust and I am hoping that I get approved quickly.

I am 17 days from my breast reduction surgery, but who is counting? I am very nervous/scared/excited. I am sure my worries are normal.. but I just keep thinking about how long I have suffered with pain in my neck and back. I hope that all goes well. I had my first mammogram on Thursday, it was much less dramatic and painful than I had imagined.. my only concern is the exposure to radiation. I haven't heard the results yet, so I am assuming that I will on Monday. I am 39 years old and I have had one child. What else? I am going to try and go down to a large b. Preop on 6/18 and I am not sure what to expect. I wish I could just relax and not be so worried. =)

I'm scheduled for July 1, too! I had my pre-op last week. They took my vitals, asked me a bunch of questions about history, health, and medications, and took some blood. They also gave me special soap to use the night before and the morning of surgery. Best wishes!

Mammogram Results

I had my mammogram last Thursday... and they called me in for an ultrasound. Saying there was something they need to look at more closely. Has this happened to any of you? They said it isn't that unusual, and many women are called back.

Yes, if you have dense breast then an ultrasound is usually called for. Women with large breasts, sometimes, have higher density. This is based on my experience and what I was told at the Women's Center. I had my BR, densed breasts and all on Apr 9, 2015. Not sorry.

I have dense beasts and for my first and second they asked for an ultrasound...apparently I have a few cysts here and there that cause dark spots to show up. Now that they have a base for future ones you should be OK :)

I had the same thing. They called me the same day and wanted me to come the following day which scared me. They took more pictures and did an ultra sound. All was normal. Like everyone said it was dense tissue and now they have a baseline as to what "normal" tissue is for me.
You will do fantastic and will feel so much better after surgery. I also carried around a DDD and went down to a B. Love it and so glad I did it. Do you have help lined up for the first few days after surgery?
