Update after 6 months

I’m thrilled with my hair transplant so far. Great growth and I feel like I turned back time. For a few months I had a problem with ingrown hair in the harvest area, but I used Bump Patrol and it subsided. Note that I do take finesteride daily. If I saw no further growth I’d still be happy since I no longer appear to be losing hair at my temples.

Overall rating

100% positive experience -- Very kind and patient and careful. Dr. Varona is a kind and patient doctor who takes pride in his specialty. My initial consultation was helpful and his assessment was realistic. He suggested 1800 grafts to fill in my receding hairline at the temples. He wisely suggested that we not touch the crown because my potential bald spot was barely evident and he didn't want an artificial-looking result. On the day of the surgery, he worked directly and closely with four assistants, who were also experienced and very nice. The whole surgery took about 7 hours, including a catered lunch. While the procedure is tedious, they kept music and TV available as a distraction, and I experienced a minimum of discomfort or pain. At the end of the day, Dr. Varona mentioned that he was able to harvest and implant more grafts than I paid for (~ 2000), which I took as a sign that he wanted to do the best job possible. He underpromised and overdelivered, which is great. I'm now 3 weeks out and I have no redness or soreness. The hair at the implant site is growing in (though I suspect some shedding before it really grows back over the next year). Lyndsie, the office's patient advocate, has followed up with a call each week and has been very friendly and helpful throughout.
