I was constantly toying with the thought of a hair transplant for a few years now and decided to take the plunge with Hairpalace after speaking to some colleagues at work, who were treated in Budapest. I would probably say I am a Norwood 6-7 and was hoping they could do some magic and give me some hair from front to back even if it did not have the density (better to have some than none at all). At the initial consultation, I outlined my needs and wants and then received 2 treatment plans (quotes) via e-mail - one for 4,000 hairs and one for 5,000 hairs both on zone 1 (very front of head). I queried the quote about hair being restored on zone 3 (vertex) and was told possibly another 3,000 hairs could be done to increase the density in zone 2 but nothing about zone 3. As a result, I trusted these guys to know what they were doing as after all they were the hair transplant experts. I am now writing this review 10 days after the fue surgery with total humiliation and disappointment at the outcome.
Whilst I have no issues with the procedure itself, I am a very disappointed with how this looks aesthetically with no hair behind zone 1, as it looks rather stupid and stands out from the rest of my head, which is what I didn't want it to do.
What may have been better advice from them during my consultation was to also do some hair in zone 2 in order to blend the hair together for a more natural look as currently, it looks very noticeable and odd from the rest of my hair (looks like the footballer Ronaldo's 1998 World Cup final haircut - tuft of hair at front only)
Had I had the opportunity again to use my donor area effectively and efficiently, I would have had 3,500 on zone 1, followed by 2,000 hairs on zone 2 with the remaining donor hairs distributed in zone 3.
I will now have to have a second transplant to rectify zone 2 and wanted it all done in the one session, which looking at now could have been achieved by clinics in Turkey and I think I have made a major error by going with hair palace.
In Follicular Unit Hair Transplantation, the goal should be to achieve the best possible cosmetic result in the context of the patient’s total donor reserves, rather than trying to place as many grafts as possible in one hair transplant session.
My advice would be to do your research and ensure you are very clear on what you want and DEMAND your needs are listened to and met with a clear plan (drawings etc) of zones and areas, as I got nothing like this and as they did not listen to what I wanted.

2 week update

2 weeks in from 5,500 hairs (2,500 grafts) and whilst hair growth is fine, it just looks odd aesthetically from the rest of my head. Dreading going to work Monday as you can tell I've had a procedure. My advice - AVOID Hairpalace Budapest as they have totally messed up my hair job - nightmare!

TBH it looks like they did good work. Just a second procedure needed. Plus it looks like you have fine hair so they had to pack the front dense. Now if you can get 2000 grafts in the mid and 1000 in crown your golden

Thanks O - fair comment but after exploring on here, I probably could have got the middle and front done in one session (more natural look) and for half the cost and half the time (1 year instead of 2). Apparently, I was told by HP I only have 2,500 hairs left from the donor area (around 1,300 grafts) so think I would only be able to get middle sorted. I'm now looking to engage with clinic in Turkey (Dr Maral) who appears to be top of the pile at present around October time to sort the rest out.

Yeh I think it would of bin better if they went back further with the 5500 hairs they got, even if it gave a thinner look it would still look really good for your age. I'm assuming you probably late 30s

Thanks O - I did query and challenge HP about this but they kept going on about Density and I kept saying isn't it best to have some hair rather than none and then we can address density issues. That is my point, they did not listen to my wishes or have a master plan to address my hair needs. I am 46 and just wanted my hair sorted to look a bit better at 50 rather than bald and you look 10 years older (60) lol.

If it’s 5500 then they have packed them very tight in the front , they could have spread a little thinner to get further back , I think when it grows it will look good from the front , some guys do keep a hairline and lose from crown .

I'm sure Maral's clinic will be able to move some of those hairs around. I'm sure it'll turn out fine. What did they say to you at work?

3 weeks update

3 weeks gone now and whilst the donor area (back off the head) is fairly unnoticeable and back to normal, the recipient area (front) is still fairly red and still numb and I updated the pics. Had to go back to work last week and tried covering up with Nanogen hair cover to hide the redness but did get asked have you done something to your hair, where I responded with I've got a bit of eczema. The frustrating element of this process for me is that I will have to do this all over again next year just to correct the 2nd zone in the middle, which could have been avoided if I had been a bit more diligent and selected the correct FUE specialist, so please learn from my mistake and ???? research and homework before selecting. I am going to explore unshaven fue transplant in the UK by Harley street doctor Raghu Reddy where he operates out a clinic near Derby (Selston cosmetic clinic) which I am hoping might be cheaper but got a feeling it will cost an arm and leg and will have to end up going abroad again!

Has anyone heard of Health Travel International (HTI)clinic in Turkey and any experiences of their results? Looked at a guy called Geoff from Manchester with some YouTube videos and they have done a bang on job!
February 22, 2018
Don't go to HTI or you may end up in the same situation. If you've only got 1300 grafts left, just go to the best there is in Turkey, Dr. Koray Erdogan at Asmed in Istanbul. Will cost you about 3k euros. Otherwise look at Dr. Demirsoy at Armamed. He's got a track record of amazing results too at 'cheaper' price. Probably cost you around 1600 euros. These guys will be responsible for most of the procedure themselves and not rely heavily on technicians. They also only deal with one patient per day.
All the best.
All the best.

Hello mate , how's it going for you ? have you had much shedding or even regrow the yet ? regards J

Hey Jkt - how's things buddy? Hit the 2 month mark and still in the ugly duckling phase - it's depressing! The front is still red but only just now starting to settle down. 3 people have noticed and asked me have I had a hair transplant. 1 was from Turkey and asked me outright as he said his mate looks the same. The other guy was at the gym and is bald but had a tattood outline done, so clocked that I had something done. I will upload some more pics in time when there is something to see but no real change yet. I've decided to go to Dr Cinik for my 2nd HT as he uses beard and chest hair as may not have enough coverage from back of head alone. When are you booked for your 2nd procedure with dr Maral?
April 3, 2018
Heya mate , back last week from my 2nd FUE with Maral klinik , I got another 3200 Grafts , very pleased with the result so far , he managed to transplant crown area and dropped my hairline by 15-20mm , I'm still recovering but will post an update within the next few days , the ugly duckling stage won't last long , another month or so ...remember patience is key ..all the best mate , keep in touch

Hey JKT - you don't hang around and I can't believe you've had your 2nd op. I bet it's going to look superb as I thought your first one was bang on and the crown wasn't that bad (a lot better than my bare one!). It's funny because it drags but goes quick if that makes sense. Whilst I would like to get a 2nd op, I don't know if I can do the time all again with shaved head etc, especially if this front actually decides to grow. When it's settled down and you feel better then post some snaps and the end result will be great mate - you'll just make me jealous (lol).
