Great progress six months after FUE
I continue to see progress six months in. It is looking great and it is still progressing. Even if it didn’t grow any more from here, I would be very happy with the outcome, but I believe it will continue to get thicker.
Four months in...
Four months after FUE, the hair really seems to be growing in well. I have been impressed with the growth and my guess is that it still has a fair amount more to grow in the coming months. I'm very satisfied with the results so far.
Great Experience - Highly Recommended
Overall, I had a great experience with Dr. Wetzel and his patient coordinator, Nelson Nance. While I don’t know how the final results will turn out yet, I feel that there is a high likelihood that everything will turn out really well based on my experiences so far (the attached picture and review are based on my experience at 11 days post-op).
Prior to my surgery, I met with Nelson and Dr. Wetzel at their office and spoke over both the phone and email several times afterwards regarding a number of questions that I had. I asked a number of questions about the research on FUE and other treatments (LLLT, Minoxidil, Finasteride, PRP) and got detailed responses to each of my questions. They made me feel very comfortable that I was in good hands and were willing to take the time to make sure they answered all of my questions.
The procedure itself was a full day beginning at 7am and finishing up just before 7pm. When I got there, Dr. Wetzel and his staff explained the way the day was going to work, cut my hair, and gave me anesthetics / pain medication. I put on Netflix during their procedure but I fell asleep for most of it. It was completely painless. After the procedure, my wife drove me home and I was quite out of it for a while due to the medications I received.
I was prescribed pain medication to have over the following week or so, but since I found the pain to be very manageable, I didn’t take any of it. I received a detailed set of instructions for what to do each day for the first couple of weeks after surgery and followed those procedures closely. The recovery period was fairly straightforward and as expected with the only exception to that being that my face swelled up quite a bit between 2-4 days after the procedure, which Dr. Wetzel assured me was normal and nothing to be worried about. As expected, everything went back to normal after a few days. I would also mention that it took around 4-5 days for the scabs from the donor area to fall out and then another 3-5 days for the scabs in the recipient area to fall out.
The attached picture shows my hair 11 days after the procedure. I would note that much of that area was bald prior to the procedure so 80-90% of those hairs are new. I would also note that many of these hairs are expected to fall out over the next several weeks and then grow back after that.
Overall, I would certainly recommend Dr. Wetzel for this procedure.
