My FUE Journey with Dr. Arocha - See Updates

ORIGINAL POST

FUE Hair Transplant

Carlos Perez, MD
WORTH IT$13,000
My hair loss journey began in my late 20’s. I am now 30, and as most other men - both younger and older - who have experienced hair loss at some point, I realized that my only options were to either do nothing and let nature take its course, or to take some sort of action, whatever that was. Initially, Minoxidil worked for me, but after about a month of using it, I began experiencing daily migraines which persisted despite lowering the dose and I had to discontinue using it. Likewise, Propecia gave me a range of side effects from sexual and emotional to others like water retention and a sense of unhappiness that I couldn’t shake off. Again, I stopped this medication. After a year and half of trying all kinds of hair supplements, I decided to go for a more permanent solution to my problem - an FUE hair transplant. And this is when the real journey began.

I am a physician, and although not a surgeon or a hair restoration specialist, I did my research before deciding to undergo FUE. Most of us read reviews online all the time and everyone claims to be the best of the best out there. No surprises there, right?. Let me tell you about my experience with Dr. Arocha and his team and I will continue to post regular updates to share my progress with you. Also, my FUE this time around was done to restore my hairline, I still have to work on the crown area and that will be done at a later time.

DAY OF THE PROCEDURE:
From the intake to the end of the procedure, him and his staff made me feel taken care of every step of the way. I had read many reviews online about how painful the anesthesia injections were among a few other stories, but that was far from my experience with Dr. Arocha. His technicians are all well-trained and their level of skill is commendable. I felt no pain whatsoever during the entire procedure and everyone treated me life family. After the procedure, I went home and had no pain at all. I slept a good 7 hours straight and woke up feeling refreshed.

POST-OP DAY 1:
I have little to no pain in the donor or recipient areas, which both seem to be healing quite nicely. I have added pictures after the first wash. I still can't believe I had a procedure at all and I am feeling great today.

POST-OP DAY 2:
A little bit of swelling around my forehead is starting to build up now, which is completely normal and expected. Still no pain. I did notice a small area of asymmetry on my hairline and I am coming back to see him in 2 days for a follow-up visit as it seems that some minor restorations may need to be done (see attached photos). Nevertheless, I contacted his office right away and am already feeling welcome and validated.

OVERALL IMPRESSION SO FAR:
If you are ready to start on your journey of hair restoration and are feeling overwhelmed by the many options you have out there, I recommend you consider Dr. Arocha and his team. Although I just underwent this procedure 2 days ago and still have some minor issues to address, in my humble opinion as a physician, I can wholeheartedly say that Dr. Arocha is the best hair restoration surgeon you will find in Houston, period.

Post-Op Day 5

Alright so, the facial swelling has gone down quite a bit and my scalp is starting to itch a little now, which is expected. Still no pain anywhere. The recipient area is healing very nicely and the donor area looks like it's back to normal. I went back to visit Dr. Arocha yesterday and he did some additional work on the left side of my head to make sure the final work was to my liking, which I very much appreciated.

I'll say this again, Dr. Arocha is a true professional and his team are fantastic and I highly recommend him if you're looking to take the next step in your hair restoration journey. He not only cares about the final quality of his work, but will make sure his patients are satisfied and happy. I am looking forward to the results and will continue to share my progress with you.
