I had permanent lip color and eyelash enhancement...

I had permanent lip color and eyelash enhancement 4 years ago, and it was time for a redo as it had faded significantly. I loved how it looked at the time I did it, so knew it was the right choice to go back to the same person who had done it the first time. Jolie numbed my lips with a topical cream before and throughout the procedure. I have a high pain tolerance as it is, however I did not experience any pain during the lip or eye tattooing. The eye is just a little disconcerting because it feels like at any second you are going to get poked in the eyeball, but I knew that wasn't going to happen. I did not have eyeliner, I had lash enhancement which is color places more precisely between each lash. This gives a darker, fuller appearance to the lashes. After she was finished, my eyes felt fine and looked amazing. My lips, however, were a bit swollen which I expected. I remember the last time I actually liked the swelling because it was exactly how if I ever got lip injections I would want them to look, just very subtle. This time the swelling was a bit more dramatic, esp on the top lip. I also remember last time the swelling was pretty much gone the following morning (i was done with the procedure by 12pm, went home and took a Benadryl, applied ice and took a nap, woke up that evening with less swelling) and I worked the following day. This time my appointment was later in the day, and I didn't get home until 10pm. I again took a Benadryl, and carefully ate small dinner (have to be careful not to touch lips with food, but overall wasn't an issue). Went to bed and woke up at 6am, swelling on top lip was exactly the same. I opted not go to work, but if I had it would not have been a big deal. I probably would have gotten some looks but people would probably just assume I decided to wear a very red lipstick or had some lip injections (I live in South Florida so nobody is too surprised when someone shows up looking like they had a little work done periodically haha). Took another Benadryl this morning and also 400mg of ibuprofen (didn't want to do that yesterday because I was afraid it would cause bleeding or bruising). As for the eyes, I have no pain there and very very minimal swelling. I applied A&D to both lips and eyes this morning too. We will see what happens over the next few days, hopefully I love it was much as I did last time!

Your results are extremely natural looking. Thanks for sharing your experience -- I'll keep an eye out for your updates.

May I ask if your eyelash enhancement was done by hand or tattoo machine? Just had lash enhancement done twice in the last 2 months and all the pigment peeled off both times. So disgusted, and it was one of the most painful experiences!

Good to see I'm contemplating on doing the lash enhancement as well. I've did my eye brows the first time in 2002 and they lasted all the way up until march last year. I found this lady in Baltimore and my brows have never looked better.

Day 3

kmangini84
After I posted my review yesterday, my lips became progressively more scabbed and oozy throughout the day. By the evening they felt really chunky and gross, and still couldn't really smile because lips were so tight. I applied vit A&D ointment for the second time of the day before I went to bed. When I woke up this morning they were still feeling scabbed and chunky, so I took a warm wet washcloth and gently dabbed at my lips. A few small pieces of scab came off. I patted them dry and applied A&D ointment. Now it is midday and they are starting to peel a bit. I am trying to just leave them alone. Overall, although they feel gross, I don't look so weird that I am uncomfortable going out in public, and would not even be a problem to go to work (but I am off anyways). The swelling is also almost completely gone, so no more duck face. My eyelash enhancement still has not given me any issue, I have been applying vitamin A&D once a day like I was instructed and think it looks great. No scabbing or peeling yet that I can tell, and also not swollen.

Both procedures look very nice on you. The color choice on the lips is perfect. I am wanting to do the same, but finding the right person in my area is the challenge. Side note: I see you have light freckling on your face. I did, too. But, about 4 years ago, I decided I wanted to fade or remove them. I ordered a 15% TCA peel from Amazon and gave myself a peel on my face, neck, chest and shoulders. After 3 months, I did it again. It worked extremely well and removed most of my light freckling and left my skin texture much finer. I did wear SPF or foundation and powder on my face/neck when going outside since then and the spots have not returned on those areas, but have on the chest where I failed to wear the sunscreen. Now, I'm going to do it again on my chest to fix that and even out the color. Since we have the same type of skin and you clearly are doing things to enhance your appearance and are willing to share with us, I thought I'd do the same.

Thank you, both for the compliment and the TCA suggestion. I was actually thinking about doing IPL laser to fade the freckling, especially on my chest, but maybe I will try the TCA peel first. As for the lip color, my previous experience is that the very red color turns to a nice natural pinky red, so hoping for that again! Good luck finding someone to do your lips, there are a lot of excellent people out there, just make sure you ask for a lot of before and after photos from them.

You can buy A&D ointment on Amazon or at Rite Aid, CVS, or Walgreens. Just go up to the pharmacy counter and ask them whether it is if you can find it :)

Day 4/5

kmangini84
On day 4 I woke up and applied my usual A&D ointment, and within an hour of doing so my lips starting peeling, FINALLY! I was eating breakfast and kept a damp paper towel to dab in between bites, and little pieces of dried color were coming off. By midday my bottom lip had peeled completely, but the scabs on the top were a little thicker (I think she went a bit deeper there, which is why my upper lip was more swollen initially, and oozed more on day 2). On day five, my upper lip peeled completely. The color left over looks great, maybe a little more pink then I would have liked, however I know from my previous experience a few years back that it fade over the next year, so better to have a little bit darker initially. My goal for this process is not to wake up every morning looking like I have a face full of make up, but just to look more natural. I wanted my lashes to look darker and my pale lips to be a little pinker. I think this was achieved.
