I've never felt my face was "right" for who I was...

I've never felt my face was "right" for who I was in my mind. I'm an artist; and aesthetics, balance and beauty are obvious and important to me - so I don't feel it's vanity or a self esteem issue as so often touted to change your appearance. For some people it's just more worth it then a new car! So I've had rhinoplasty, my ears pinned back, filler in my tear trough, and now finally my lip implants yesterday! I went for the biggest in both, I know these tend to be more subtle, but I figure I can always add some restylane if I'm truly not satisfied at the end result. So the office was fantastic. I couldn't have chosen a better doctoc then Dr. Christine Stiles. Her staff and bedside manner were beyond accomodating.

Before the procedure the prescribed me an anti-viral, an antibiotic, some pain meds (tramadol / acetamenophin ) and one valium for the procedure. I arrived, they took before pictures and did all of my vitals etc., I also had to take a urine screen for nicotine as she is VERY serious about no smoking. I then was instructed to take the valium and one tramadol and they took me to the "procedure room" they let me pick the music, and they started by putting 4 q-tips like a walrus in my mouth with local numbing creme. Once I was numb, they got out the "big guns" and I got dental blocks in the 4 corners of my gums. They pinched, but it wasn't aawful . She also then injected the corners of my mouth with local which HURT. One I was totally numb, they draped towels over my face and eyes. The procedure took a lot longer then i thought, and there was lots of tugging. The worst part was mental - hearing the snips, and feeling blood stream down my cheeks. ew. but pan wise, I was totally numb. Once I was stitched, they went over the post op instructions with me, gave me some ice packs and we headed home. the numbness started wearing off on the drive home, and i was in LEGIT pain. I was starting to panic that this tramadol wouldn't cut it, and almost called to beg for something stronger.... I took a tramadol the minute I walked in. Everything ached and burned for probably another hour until I was able to doze off. Once I woke up, the pain was managed and it has continued to be pretty well managed since then. I'm only on the morning of day 2 now, so I'll update as I heal.
