Hey all!
Wanted to share my experience with SoftTap Semi-permanent liner. I was very hesitant at first, and did a lot of research to choose the right certified esthetician. Once I found her, I scheduled a consultation where I described what I was looking for and she walked me through the process. I chose the 'charcoal' color, which can be seen on the SoftTap website - they have a chart of hues (ranging from light to dark and cool to warm). As this stage, I would reccomend you show an exact example of what you want - specifically how thin / thick of a line, how long of a line, and whether or not you want between the lashes done.
On the day of the procedure, the process was pretty straightforward. She numbed one eyelid, so that I could keep the other one open, and we waited 30 mins. After 30 mins, she removed the numbing cream on eyelid #1, put numbing cream on eyelid #2, and began the SoftTap on eyelid #1. It was not painful, but I could definitely feel a pinch/sting. What was more painful was a bit of numbing cream getting in to my eye... Once the tattoo part was over, she put viscous eyedrops in my eye to clean it out. We then did the same process with eyelid # 2.
Afterwords, my eyelids were pretty swollen (although I could easily go out in public, it was nothing extreme). I had a bit of a nervous break, thinking that the line was thicker than I wanted, but she reassured me the line and the swelling would go down 60-70%. I followed the aftercare to the T, and used eye drops as I experienced symptoms of dry-eye for the first few days (this, too, scared me as I thought this may be a permanent side-effect). Luckily, my eye was mostly healed and back to normal after a week.
One month later, I went in for the follow up, to fill in spots that had faded away of become faint in color. At this stage, I chose a slightly warmer 'mahogany' shade, to compliment the original cooler charcoal (I do not want the eyeliner to fade to a grey/blue so I made sure to chose a dark brown). This procedure was the same as the first and went by rather quickly.
Healing / Reflection: Thinking back on it, the whole process was a bit stressful. If you are neurotic like me, it is hard to put this kind of control over your face in someone else's hands. It is also hard to live with some side effects of healing if you are one to be paranoid that you may have permanently damaged your eye. Luckily, I am happy with the final results, which were thanks to the care I received from Ashley - she is thorough and lovely. It has made my morning routine easier, and trips to the gym more glamorous. The color has remained, but is not dark so I will likely need a touch up in a year or so... If this is something I must do every year, it will not be as affordable as I had originally expected.
This procedure is not for the faint of heart. If you are on the fence considering this procedure my advice is to wait it out. I have since found a great waterproof eyeliner by Maybeline which stays on very well and I wear most days anyways ~ and is a good alternative. If you are set on getting this done, DO YOUR RESEARCH! Both on estheticians and SoftTap - make sure you have plenty of examples of their work and and photos of exactly what you want done.
All the best!

Ashley is wonderful! Very thorough, attentive and good at what she does. You can see countless examples of her work on Indelibelle's Instagram. Ashley has great bedside manner and made the experience as pleasant as possible. I would highly recommend her for permanent makeup if you are in the area!
