One week post surgery

campbte

I went back this past Friday for my one week post surgery visit. All is looking good and they removed the stitches around the nipples and underneath the breast. Still have the vertical stitches for another week.

Still have some bruising and swelling but that should continue to fade over the next couple weeks.

I've been feeling great and have been off all pain medicine, including over the counter medicine, since earlier this week. I even went for a 2 mile walk this past Sunday (3 days post surgery).

Was given the ok to start back light cardio at the gym like an elliptical, bike or walking on the treadmill as long as I take it slow and don't engage my arms at this point. I'm also allowed to resume ballroom dancing next week as long as I don't go crazy lol.

I'm still surprised how well I'm going and how minimum the pain has been. The nurse reminded me that I have two layers of internal stitches and to give myself time to heal internally as well as externally.

My PS is off next week so have to wait until the following Monday for my next appt and will hopefully get out the remaining stitches at that time.

Curious how you are doing post surgery? I actually met with Dr. Bautista today about having a lift done, as well. Would love to hear more about your recovery.

I loved Dr. Bautista and it was a much easier recovery that I ever thought possible. I'm very happy with the results and glad I did it. If you don't mind spending a little extra on the Exparel, I highly recommend it. I didn't really have any pain except discomfort after the surgery. Let me know if you have any specific questions I can answer for you.

Thanks so much! How do you feel about your size now? Did you lose much from what your cup size was before surgery? Did he do the lollipop incision?

I'm a little smaller, but probably only a 1/2 cup size since I can fit in my old bras. It's so nice to have them where they belong and facing the right way now, though. I still can't wear underwire bras for long periods of time since they bother the underneath incision (some are better than others). I've worn underwire bras as long as I can remember, but found several nice non-wire bras from Soma that I wear a lot now during the day. I still sleep in a light weight front close surgery/sports bra and probably will the rest of my life. Unfortunately, gravity is still a factor over time so Dr. B suggested wearing a bra as much as possible. I did get the lollipop incision and the scars are still fading, but you can see them. Not sure the ones underneath will ever really go away since they are more raised, but I'm very fair skinned and scar easily. The scars don't bother me and I'd do it again to get the lift and position. Hope all this helps.

Day One Post Surgery

Went to my dr appt today. They removed the dressings and everything looks great so far. Some swelling and light bruising but I was pleasantly surprised how good they look right now.

Pain is still fairly minimal, but expected that to change a little bit once the injection pain medicine wears off in the next couple days.

Next appt is next Friday and will hopefully get all the sutures out then.

You look really good! I was wondering being a mom myself and thinking of getting a breast lift..what was your bra size before? Mom 4 and nursed. The girls are not the same lol

Yes, mine definitely changed over the years, especially after breastfeeding and losing weight. I was a 36DD for the majority of the time and went down to a 36D recently with weight loss (almost an overflowing 36D, but the DD was way too big). I feel so much smaller right now so it will be interesting to see what I end up after all the swelling and settling takes place. The nurse told me it can take 4-6 weeks for the majority of the swelling to go down and not to go bra shopping until then. I was hoping to end up a 36C, but we will see. It's hard to tell when all I can wear right now is a sports bra. I'm a lovely shade of yellow right now from the bruising, but go back on Friday to hopefully have the stiches taken out so will post updated photos then.

Surgery day!

Happy to report that surgery went well today and I'm in very minimal pain this evening. Love my PS and staff. They made it a wonderful experience!

Went in at 8am, had a pee test (guess they have to confirm your aren't pregnant). The dr came in to mark me up, next up was the anesthesiologist, and then the nurse to take me back. Had a small problem with the IV (normal for me), but got it in the second try in the other arm using a pediatric needle. They numbed the IV site, which made it much easier.

Once she added the 1st dose of "happy" medicine I was out. Don't remember anything except waking up in the car a couple times and climbing in my bed when I got home (hubby has a couple funny stories but I don't remember any of it lol).

I usually struggle with nausea from the anesthesia and pain pills so they gave me something in my IV and put an anti-nausea patch behind my ear that should last three days and so far so good.

I did take a pain pill before I fell asleep since my dr told me take them as prescribed for now to keep myself comfortable and pain free (usually I'd try to tough it out some). I also paid extra for a slow release analgesic pain medicine call Exparel that they inject into the surgical incision sites that should work for up to 72 hours (so far I don't feel any pain around the incision site so totally worth it to me).

I woke up about two hours later feeling fairly normal. I got out of bed and fixed myself some soup, ate it all and walked around a bit. I was still a little shaky but felt really good. My husband was shocked when we saw me up compared to how I was a couple hours ago ( he had to help be even walk, etc.).

I have a follow up appointment tomorrow to have the dressings changed and they will help me get in a bra. I only have dressings with a loose ace bandage think on now.

I know it will probably be worse once the injection pain medicine wears off on Saturday, but thankful for a good day today and I'll take it day by day! Can't wait to see how they look when they change the dressing tomorrow and will try to get a picture if I can.
